Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 464

Chapter 464

Rebecca woke up the next morning in bed. She had no idea who had carried her there; she distinctly remembered falling asleep in Josette’s arms.

The fireplace, the snow, the bright lights, the incredible feast… everything from last night was still wrapped around her like a warm blanket.

As a kid, she watched Christmas shows on TV. They always played that song about an unforgettable night.

She had never really understood what that felt like, but now she did. A beautiful night made one wish it could stretch on forever.

She stayed curled under the warm covers, then finally sat up. On the nightstand were four gifts-from Josette, Kaitlyn, Gabriel, and Desmond.

The two jewelry sets were obviously from Kaitlyn and Gabriel, each trying to outdo the other in luxury. Opening the boxes nearly blinded her with their sparkle.

The real surprise was Josette’s gift. It was another piece of jewelry, but one with a special meaning. It was the very first design Josette had created herself.

In the months since arriving in France, Josette had not only adapted to life here but had also started learning jewelry design from Kaitlyn.

Every girl once dreamed of sparkling things, and Josette had been a little girl too-probably stringing plastic beads into necklaces just like so many others.

Watching Kaitlyn sketch and play with beautiful gemstones like toys, she had grown interested. At first, she worried she was too old and that people would laugh.

Rebecca had encouraged her, “You were brave enough to start dancing again. Age is just a number. Do what you love.”

This brooch was Josette’s very first design, given to Rebecca as a gift. Its meaning was simple: “If I can start over, so can you.”

Desmond had given her a pair of crystal dance shoes. On the card, he wrote that the princess would put on her crystal slippers and start dancing again.

In truth, he had given her far more than shoes. During her recovery, he had been there every step of the way, especially during that month of the performance tour, when he stayed with her morning and evening, kept her safe, and helped adjust her therapy plan.

These past few months, he had lived next door and accompanied her to the clinic almost every day. If the crystal shoes were the visible gift, his constant presence had been the invisible one carrying her forward.

She didn’t feel the shoes poke at the pain of her injury. Dance was still her totem, regardless of whether she could ever perform as she once had. It would always be her greatest love.

The clinic didn’t close on Christmas, so she still had a half-day rehab session.

When it was time to leave, Desmond insisted on driving her. He hadn’t brought his car, so Gabriel tossed him the keys. “Take mine.”

Desmond lit up, taking it for Gabriel’s approval.

“Thanks, big cousin!” he said happily.

Gabriel didn’t correct him or tell him to stop using the nickname. This was real approval.

Desmond drove with a huge grin, humming “Jingle Bells” all the way to the clinic.

Inside, a man dressed as Santa Claus was handing out gifts. It was none other than Robert, whom they hadn’t seen in a while. He looked thinner and worn out, but his eyes sparkled with holiday cheer.

When he spotted Rebecca, he boomed, “There’s my dancing girl!”

Then he handed her a gift.
