Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 466

Chapter 466

Rebecca finished her rehab session close to noon.

Desmond helped her out of the clinic. The snow made everything harder for someone with mobility issues, and that day’s session had also been more intense than usual.

When she stepped outside, her legs felt like jelly. Even with Desmond supporting her, the moment he let go near the car, she slipped.

A short distance behind their car, another vehicle had been parked unmoved the entire morning. The man inside watched and slammed the steering wheel. “Can’t even hold someone upright?”

But right after he said it, Desmond reacted instantly and caught Rebecca. On instinct, she grabbed him back.

In the snow, they stood face to face, close enough to see the white puffs of the other’s breath.

Her cheeks were still flushed from the workout. She looked up, and a single snowflake drifted down on the tip of her nose, tickling her. She started to push him away so she could brush it off, but his face suddenly drew closer.

Warm breath brushed her nose. The icy snowflake melted against the heat of his lips, turning into a tiny droplet that clung there.

“I’m sorry.” He held her tightly, pressing her cheek to his chest. “I overstepped, but I really like you.”

Her face rested against the soft cashmere of his sweater. It was warm and comforting. In the middle of a snowy winter day, she felt no cold at all.

“If you’re mad, you can hit me,” he murmured, his voice soft and sticky-sweet like it was rolling around in his throat.

She tugged at his sweater. “Young man, you’re not dressed properly. Your coat is unzipped, and cold wind is pouring in. Careful, or when you’re old, those bones are going to ache.”

It was the same thing Josette always nagged about whenever Desmond or Gabriel wore their coats that way.

Desmond paused, then laughed heartily. Thankfully, she was not mad.

“It’s cold out here. Get in the car already,” she urged, her eyes sparkling.

“Okay!” He stared at her, reluctant to look away, but it really was cold.

He was burning up inside, hoping he could hold her forever and never let go. But he didn’t want her to catch a cold.

When he finally released her, he quickly leaned in and pecked her cheek.

“All right, let’s get in! We’re heading home!” he chattered happily, opening the door and helping her inside.

Then he jogged around to the driver’s side. Once inside, he didn’t start the engine right away. Instead, he turned the heat on full blast and stared at her.

She blushed and glared. “Drive now. If you can’t manage it, I’ll just call Gabriel to come get us.”

“No… No need, I’ve got it,” he said quickly, fearing that Gabriel would punch him because of his actions.

The car pulled away smoothly and headed home.

In the vehicle parked behind them, the driver’s face had gone dark as thunder. If he had still been clinging to any

away.

That irritating voice rang out again. “Ha! Given up yet?”
