Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 467

Chapter 467

“If you don’t keep your mouth shut, I might just leave your body out in the woods somewhere!” the driver snarted, whipping around.

Robert raised an eyebrow. “Toss me wherever you like. I can’t control anything while I’m alive. Why would I care what happens after I’m gone?”

Desmond drove along in high spirits. They were almost at the park road. One more stretch, and they’d be home.

But he suddenly pulled over. “I need to call Gabriel.”

“Why?” Rebecca blinked, knowing this guy could be sneaky.

“I booked a restaurant a month ago. I thought… maybe I’d get the chance to take you out for Christmas…”

Those big, pleading eyes were back. He reached over and gently tugged her sleeve. “Is that okay?”

“Go ahead and call him. See if he’d yell,” she said, unable to resist the look.

Right in front of her, he asked Gabriel for the rest of the afternoon off.

Gabriel wasn’t thrilled. “Everything outside is closed. Where can you go?”

“A few places are still open.”

“Put Becky on the phone.”

Desmond handed over the phone and looked at her pleadingly.

She bit back a laugh. “Hi, Gabe.”

“You actually want to go out with him?” Gabriel asked directly.

“I… well… I don’t really…” Rebecca drawled, glancing at Desmond.

His eyes went wide. “Rebecca…”

She laughed. “I don’t really want to turn him down.”

Desmond’s heart had been on a roller coaster the whole call. Good thing he didn’t have a heart condition.

Gabriel gave a short hum. “Hand the phone back to that kid.”

From then on, Desmond had no name with Gabriel. He was simply “that kid”.

“Gabe…” Desmond said in his most charming voice.

“Home by nine.”

“Okay.”

Rebecca wanted to protest that she was already 27, not a teenager, but that was enough to make Desmond beam with happiness.

He hung up, grinned at her, and drove straight to the restaurant.

On Christmas Day, the international metropolis was almost empty. Only a few cars moved along the quiet streets. Few passengers were in sight, and just as Gabriel had said, most stores and restaurants were closed.

Every block was decked out in Christmas decorations. At night, the lights would be spectacular.

Desmond had booked a Christmas meal at an upscale hotel. Inside, it was a different world with lively music and waiters moving efficiently between tables.

It felt like a party, complete with music, singing, and dancing.

The dancers in Santa outfits came down from the stage to invite guests onto the floor. They naturally stopped at Rebecca and Desmond’s table.

Desmond was ready to decline, worried the fast group dances might be too much for Rebecca, but she stood up before he could stop her.

Delighted, he joined her on the dance floor. To the upbeat music, they bounced and jumped with total strangers. Rebecca didn’t worry about steps or forms; she just moved and had fun.

Then the music slowed, and the band’s bagpiper in a Scottish kilt began to play a winding melody.
