Chapter 468
As the tempo dropped, so did the dance steps. The crowded floor gradually emptied around Rebecca and Desmond
The music was hypnotic, the band was playing a beautiful love song
The two of them, each carrying their own secret feelings, barely noticed the world around them. Both passionate dancers, they unconsciously slipped into the smooth, flowing moves of a classic duo dance
Once they started, they couldn’t stop. The floor was empty around them as everyone else returned to their seats to watch. That was fine. Right now, all that mattered was dancing.
After six months of steady rehabilitation, Rebecca had made significant progress. Movements she had once faked her way through now looked nearly flawless. She could execute about 80 percent of them, especially the lifts, which she performed beautifully.
Desmond wanted to showcase every bit of her beauty, so he added extra lifts.
Rebecca had worn a red wool skirt under her down jacket. When she spun, the skirt flared beautifully. The other diners couldn’t resist pulling out their phones to record.
When the song ended, the entire room erupted in applause. Rebecca hadn’t realized they were the only ones still dancing until that moment. Everyone else had become an audience, giving them thumbs-up.
Even the hotel’s professional dancers were clapping along. A few girls ran over, asking where they were from and what kind of dance that was.
“We’re from the United States,” Rebecca and Desmond answered almost in unison. “This is contemporary American dance.”
“Amazing!” one girl marveled, holding Rebecca’s arm. “Are you a fairy?”
Rebecca chuckled. “No, I’m just an ordinary dance student.”
“Really? How long have you been dancing? How long would it take me to dance like that? To fly like that!”
Rebecca thought for a second. “I’ve been dancing for more than 20 years.”
“Gosh!” the girl exclaimed. “Do all Americans have to learn this? You can all fly?”
Rebecca chuckled, unsure how to answer that question. Not every American danced, and that wasn’t exactly flying.
Someone posted that joyful moment on social media, and the dance video went viral. Rebecca and Desmond had no idea until that evening back at the house.
Desmond was in the kitchen preparing dinner when Kaitlyn, sitting beside Rebecca, suddenly gasped.
“Look at this! Is that you?” She forwarded the video to them.
Rebecca opened it, and sure enough, it was them. A diner from that afternoon had posted it, calling her “the fairy
from the States”.
The restaurant had reposted it: [Wishing the fairy from the States a very Merry Christmas.]
The clip took off, and the comments were all praise.
Someone commented: [I knew it. Americans can fly.]
It earned tens of thousands of likes.

Josette watched the video with tears in her eyes. For so many years, only she understood how much Rebecca loved dance.
After the injury, Rebecca had never returned to the stage, and Josette had always felt sorry for her. Seeing her dance again and seeing so many people love it filled her with joy.
The video reached more than just the Perrys. It also reached Vance.
While the video was full of warmth and laughter, he sat alone in Robert’s large but chilly living room. His face grew darker as he stared at the screen.
