Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 474

Chapter 474

“Being far away in another country, it’s normal for her to miss home,” Kaitlyn said.

After dinner, Rebecca watched Josette knitting a cashmere sweater.

Since arriving here, Josette had become fascinated with jewelry design and tailoring. With Kaitlyn’s encouragement, her passion had only grown stronger.

In autumn and winter, she had fallen in love with knitting cashmere and had made sweaters for Rebecca, Kaitlyn, and Gabriel.

The one she was working on now looked like a men’s style. Desmond hovered beside her, his eyes shining with longing.

“This one isn’t for Poppy, is it?” he asked hopefully.

Poppy was Kaitlyn’s pet dog.

Josette burst out laughing. “What do you think?”

Desmond scratched his head. “After Poppy gets hers, can I maybe have a pair of gloves?”

He didn’t even dare ask for a sweater.

Josette grinned from ear to ear. “This one is for you.”

Desmond was overjoyed. “Thank you, Grandma!”

The heir of the Schroeder family, who could wear anything worth a fortune, was now competing with a dog for a hand-knitted cashmere sweater. That was entertaining.

Rebecca smiled at him, her heart growing steadier. Desmond was so focused on watching Josette knit his sweater that they stayed later than usual.

It was too late to go home, so they decided to stay the night.

Desmond already had his room there. Since the Christmas holiday, they had stayed over several times, and slowly his things had started appearing around the house-clothes, toiletries, and even books.

Without anyone noticing, he had quietly become part of the family. Rebecca’s room was on the second floor, and his was on the third.

When it was time to go upstairs, he lingered on the second-floor landing, just like he used to do back at her place near school. He would hover outside her bedroom door, only to be gently pushed away in the end.

He was doing the same thing again. She smiled, stood on her tiptoes, and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before darting into her room.

He watched her go with a soft smile.

Had she noticed? When she ran now, the limp was barely visible anymore. She moved almost like a normal person.

Back in her room, her phone vibrated with a message.

Desmond: [Rebecca, I want to choreograph a dance. I’ll send you the music. Let’s work on it together tomorrow.)

She didn’t think twice, replying: [Sure!]

Then he sent the music. It was his own recording of “I’m willing”.

That night, the lyrics kept looping in her dreams: “I’m willing… willing to do anything for you.”

Even a heart that had once dried up was slowly being soaked with warmth again.

It was already late at night there, but back in the States, it was dinner time. Lucas came to pick up Isabelle so they could head back to the plantation for dinner.

Since the company was gone, he no longer had to rush around. He planned to stay home for a few years to take care of the baby and learn how to make tea. In the future, he planned to sell tea with Isabelle.

But he seemed preoccupied that day. Isabelle sensed it immediately.

“What’s wrong?”

“A few things happened today.”

He never hid anything from her.

“Tell me one by one!”

He organized his thoughts. “Prison visits are allowed now. Aiden called and asked me to bring Sonia to see him. He misses Shane, too.”

“Visit for what?” She flared up. “You want Shane to know he has a father like that and feel proud?”

He thought about it and had to agree.

“Anything else?” she asked again.

He sighed. “Vance has disappeared.”
