Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 475

Chapter 475

Isabelle frowned. “What do you mean by ‘disappeared’? Did he vanish on his own, or did something happen to him?”

“He vanished on his own,” Lucas said hoarsely. “I sent him a message today and found he had blocked me. I tried calling him and discovered he had changed his number. I can’t reach him at all.”

Isabelle stroked her chin. “Did he emigrate?”

Lucas shook his head. “I don’t know. But he has nothing. How is he supposed to live?”

“You said he went to see his father. The old man passed away. Maybe his father left him something? Otherwise, why wouldn’t he take any of the company money?” Isabelle said thoughtfully.

“He donated every cent his father left him and refused to take any of the money from selling the company.” Lucas frowned, growing even more upset. “And during the divorce, he gave all the money he had earned to Rebecca. He really has nothing left now. I’m honestly afraid he might do something drastic. The last time we talked, he sounded like he was saying goodbye forever.”

“What did he say?” Isabelle pressed.

Lucas wiped his eyes. “He said, Lucas, live a good life from now on. Talk to Isabelle first about anything important; she’s more rational than you. Selling tea is fine. Don’t take big risks or make reckless investments. Guard the money you have and raise the child well. That will be enough for this lifetime.”

“He might really…” Isabelle also felt something was off. “Wait, Rebecca messaged me today, and we talked about him. Maybe he went to find… No, better not. Don’t look for her again. Just let her go.”

Lucas was immersed in sorrow. “But why did he block me? He wasn’t angry with me. He was clearly worried about me, even reminding me not to make risky investments. I get the feeling he arranged everything for everyone else, then quietly disappeared.”

“Respect his choice if you’re truly his friend,” Isabelle said, not caring about Vance so much.

In fact, from a woman’s perspective, she had always felt antipathy toward him.

She added, “He must have his reasons.”

After a long pause, Lucas choked up, “How did it end up with only me left?”

“Have you had enough?” Isabelle’s temper flared. “I can tolerate you moping around like you are half-dead, but what do you mean by ‘only me left’? Aren’t I a person? Isn’t our child a person? Don’t my parents count? There are so many people around you! How can you say you’re the only one left? Are you planning to abandon us? Fine! Then get out! Go find him!”

“No, that’s not what I meant.” Lucas snapped out of it. “I was just lamenting. How could I ever abandon you and the baby?”

She snorted at his flustered expression. If she didn’t scold him hard, he’d not know which way was up.

They finally reached the tea plantation with the baby. Before Lucas even got out of the car, he saw Isabelle’s cousin squatting by an outdoor faucet, using a brush to wash the mud off Shane’s shoes.

When he finished, he started brushing Sonia’s shoe, too. She had just come back from the fields.

Lucas immediately understood that the prison visit was out of the question.
