Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 511

Chapter 511

“Oh, Vance is back!” Jocelyn cheered. “Didn’t you say you weren’t coming back today?”

Rebecca caught the keyword: “Back.”

It sounded as though Vance belonged here.

“Good thing we made enough food!” Andrew said, having planned a big meal since Rebecca and Jenny had come over as guests.

Rebecca rolled her eyes. Why did this guy show up everywhere?

Jocelyn went out to greet him, her happy voice carrying into the living room. “You’re back at just the right time! Your old classmates are here. Let’s eat together.”

“Classmates? Which ones?”

“Two girls.”

Their voices reached the doorway. “Rebecca? Jenny? It’s you two?”

Jenny rolled her eyes. “Don’t even say ‘nice to see you.’ It’s not.”

Vance smiled and told Jocelyn, “We used to bicker all the time in school. We still do it out of habit whenever we meet.”

Jocelyn laughed. “Oh, I know. Andrew and I are the same way. We can’t go a single day without teasing each other.”

Rebecca was surprised by how close the couple was to Vance, while Jenny held back from snapping at Vance again, out of respect

for the elders.

They were here to visit the couple, not to cause trouble.

“You guys go sit in the living room,” Vance said. “I’ll help in the kitchen.”

“Yeah, go on,” Jocelyn agreed. “The kitchen’s too small for all of us. You girls head out and keep Anna company.”

Jenny immediately grabbed Rebecca’s arm. “Perfect. We won’t be in the way. Just holler if you need help.”

“Go on, have fun,” Jocelyn urged.

In the living room, Anna sat primly on the sofa, scrolling on her phone.

Jenny led Rebecca to sit down beside her, flashing a bright smile. “Hi! You are Vance’s girlfriend, right?”

Anna looked a little lost but smiled politely. Jenny switched to French and repeated herself.

Anna nodded with a sweet smile. Jenny tried chatting with her, but Anna’s answers stayed short and safe-nothing too revealing.

After a few exchanges, Jenny lost interest. She leaned toward Rebecca and whispered, “Man, how does Vance get so lucky? He always ends up with these sweet, innocent girls. First you, and now Anna. I feel bad about this. It’s like a wolf bullying a rabbit. What am I supposed to do?”

Amused, Rebecca whispered back, “Come on. I know you’re trying to stand up for me, but Anna didn’t do anything wrong. The scumbag here is Vance.”

Anna suddenly asked in English, “What’s the wolf and rabbit story?”

Rebecca and Jenny both froze. Anna turned her phone screen toward them. It was a real-time translation.

“I was afraid I wouldn’t understand you, so I used the app,” she explained awkwardly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop.”

Vance came out carrying a plate of appetizers. Seeing the three of them chatting away, he asked casually, “What are you girls talking about? Looks like you’re hitting it off.”

Jenny shot him a glare. “Oh, I was just telling Anna that the girlfriend you brought back last time wasn’t her.”
