Chapter 514
When Desmotid arrived the next day, he brought an enormous bouquet all the way from Arelmoor.
Did Soliaridge not have flowers?
“I want every day you see me to start with flowers,” he explained. “So, the very first thing you feel is happiness.”
That little knot in Rebecca’s chest loosened. As long as they loved each other, those little frictions could be worked through.
For the rest of their time in Soliaridge, they were practically inseparable. After their visas were approved, they took a short trip around the area.
At the beginning of August, they left Soliaridge and flew back to France.
Those peaceful, sweet days made Rebecca believe that the tiny issues between her and Desmond were fixable. They could compromise and change for each other.
Back in France, they threw themselves into rehearsals for the upcoming Edinburgh Festival.
During her time in Soliaridge, Rebecca had kept up her therapy, except for the day she went to the church. Once they returned, she continued her daily sessions at the clinic.
The doctor told her that her progress this month had been remarkable. The injured leg was getting noticeably stronger and was
almost even with the other one.
Rebecca was thrilled. “Does that mean there’s a real chance I could get back on stage?”
She meant being able to perform difficult moves again, not just the easier ones she could manage now.
“In theory, yes,” the doctor said. “In reality, it’s going to be extremely hard and painful.”
“That’s fine!” she said firmly.
If there was even a sliver of hope, she would fight for it.
From then on, she spent even more time in the studio than before. She rehearsed with the troupe first, then stayed after everyone else left and kept working-two hours, three hours, sometimes losing track of time until late at night.
All that extra physical work meant she needed serious fuel. Desmond prepared high-nutrition meals that gave her exactly what she burned without adding fat, and they tasted amazing.
Going home every night after rehearsal made the best part of her day. What could be better than sharing three meals and four seasons with the person she loved?
As she started staying later and later, Desmond adjusted too. At first, he waited the whole time, but eventually, he would slip out to cook dinner, then come back to pick her up.
She was never worried about safety, with the bodyguards around her. After learning about the kidnapping, Gabriel wasn’t taking any chances, especially since they were abroad, where things could be even more dangerous.
The walk from home to the studio was short, so sometimes they strolled back together. When she was too exhausted, Desmond would carry her home on his back. During those nights, all she saw when she looked up were stars.
They were beautiful and brought her hope.
One evening, around the usual time, she finished rehearsing, and Desmond texted that he was almost there. She locked the studio and walked to the front gate to meet him.
That was when she ran into Vance, who had also returned.
She had heard the nurses at the clinic talking about it earlier-the owner of the cookie shop was back, and the place was open

But customers had to go get their orders themselves. The nurses had grumbled that he no longer delivered, but they still loved the pastries.
Rebecca tensed up immediately. The first thing she did was scan the area to make sure Desmond hadn’t arrived yet. Thankfully, she didn’t see him.
“What are you doing here? Can you just stop coming to find me?” she snapped, not holding back at all.
Just seeing him these days made her temper flare.
