Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 521

Chapter 521

Flustered, Desmond grabbed her arm and tugged her forward. “Come on, let’s go. We come here every day. No need to say hi.”

Rebecca frowned at his strange reaction. “How can we just leave like that? That would be so rude.”

Desmond came from a prominent family. This kind of behavior didn’t match his usual polished upbringing. He had always been one of the politest people she knew.

Meanwhile, the nurses were still buzzing in the hallway. “Oh my God, who on earth did that? Didn’t the shop owner call the police?”

“No,” the night-shift nurse continued. “Their neighbor said it was some young guy who looked kind of familia She’d probably seen him around the street before. The kid went crazy, smashed up the shop, and then just walked out. The next thing anyone knew, there was a big ‘free giveaway’ sign hanging out front.”

Rebecca figured out something. She turned to look at Desmond, silently hoping her guess was wrong. He strode out without another word, and her heart sank.

He hadn’t gone far; he was waiting for her just outside. Without a word, she walked back toward the rehearsal hall, and he trailed quietly behind her.

Once they reached the hall, Rebecca immediately started organizing the rehearsal. The Edinburgh International Festival was approaching fast, and their flights were already booked.

At this point, the only thing that mattered was rehearsal and delivering a flawless performance. When it finally ended, Rebecca stayed behind in the hall as usual and threw herself into extra practice.

She danced with raw intensity, as if venting all her frustration, pushing herself until she had exhausted every ounce of energy. She collapsed onto the floor, too drained to move.

It took her a while to catch her breath. When she finally gathered enough strength to head home, she realized Desmond hadn’t waited for her this time.

There was no offer of a ride, no message, nothing at all. By the time she reached the school gate, there was still no sign of him.

Honestly, he was the one who had insisted they shouldn’t let problems fester overnight and should solve them immediately. Yet here he was, doing exactly what he preached against.

Did she have to be the one to smooth things over again? She had just pushed her body to its absolute limit. Now she was both mentally and physically exhausted.

She felt too drained to keep coaxing him repeatedly with no end in sight.

Standing at the gate, she scanned the area for the bodyguards, Gabriel had arranged for her. A car soon pulled up and stopped right in front of her.

It was Aaron, her regular bodyguard, with another man in the passenger seat. They usually kept a low profile so they wouldn’t disrupt her daily life, but the moment she needed them, they were always there.

“Were you looking for us, Ms. Perry?” Aaron asked, sensing something was off.

She nodded. “Yeah. Let’s go home.”

The passenger-side bodyguard quickly got out and opened the back door for her. She climbed in, leaned against

the seat, and fell asleep almost instantly.

The drive home was short. When the car stopped, she was still sound asleep. The two bodyguards exchanged glances, unsure whether they should wake her.

“Ms. Perry, we’re home,” Aaron said softly, turning around.

Rebecca stirred groggily and opened her eyes. The sight of Aaron brought her back to reality, and she/remembered Desmond had been upset and hadn’t come to pick her up.

“Thanks, guys.” She opened the car door to get out.

“With pleasure,” Aaron replied quickly, stepping out and holding the door open for her.

She had overdone it with extra practice; now her legs were sore. The moment her feet touched the ground, she nearly stumbled. Aaron caught her arm with lightning reflexes.

Behind the curtains of the house right next door, someone watched the entire scene unfold.
