Chapter 537
Desmond no longer addressed her softly. The gentle, shy exterior he had always worn disappeared, revealing the obsessive, possessive core beneath.
Rebecca stared at him in horror, momentarily at a loss for words. Aaron quickly ushered her inside the house and stood guard at the door, watching Desmond with sharp eyes.
Desmond stomped on every rose and ground lamp in the yard, crushing the flowers into a pulpy mess and smashing the lights until none were still glowing. Only then did he storm back to his house next
door.
Denise had witnessed everything from inside. She looked at him in disbelief. “You’re really scaring me right now!”
He glanced at her. “Denise, do me a favor.”
The next day, Rebecca went to the clinic as usual for the therapy and rehab sessions.
But when she saw Archer, Desmond’s words suddenly echoed in her mind.
“I found the therapist for you, accompanied you to every rehab, and helped revise your rehab plan. I gave up so much to help you stand in the spotlight again…”
During the session, she lost her balance on the equipment and fell. Images of Desmond accompanying her through rehab flashed through her mind, along with his voice.
“I gave up so much for you…”
Because of the new injury, she couldn’t go to the afternoon rehearsal. Aaron took her to the hospital for X -rays and examinations.
Luckily, nothing was broken, but she was told to avoid intense activity for at least a week. She had to post a notice in the troupe group chat, saying she would be resting at home.
She had just lain down when her phone buzzed with a message from Desmond. Just seeing his name now filled her with fear.
With trembling hands, she opened the message and found a terrifying emoji followed by a string of voice
notes.
She played one. His voice came out almost demonic.
“I gave up so much for you. How can you do this to me? I gave up so much for you. How can you do this
to me?”
Her head began to throb as if an iron band were tightening around her skull. She threw the phone across the room and curled up on the bed, clutching her head.

A haunting voice rang out right beside her. “Rebecca, I gave up so much for you. How can you do this to me?”
She nearly screamed. She had thrown her phone away. Why was the voice still there? She opened her eyes and saw Desmond standing right beside her bed.
He was holding a bouquet of lilies and smiling at her with an eerie expression.
