Chapter 554
“Desmond is doing well,” “Denise said. “He joined the company and stays busy every day. My parents are even setting him up on blind dates.”
Those words lifted a heavy weight from Rebecca’s heart. She truly hoped Desmond could move on and meet new people. “Don’t put any pressure on yourself,” Denise contiqued. “They will take good care of him. Actually, my dad never really liked that Desmond was into dancing. Bringing him back home fits what he wanted.”
She covered her mouth, realizing her improper expression. “I didn’t mean dancing was bad…”
Rebecca smiled gently. “I understand.”
She even understood that Sean probably hadn’t wanted her as a daughter–in–law, With their status, they would prefer someone from an equal background who could strengthen their influence.
During the summer when Desmond had come to Soliaridge to handle his visa, she had overheard him arguing with Sean on the phone several times. He thought she didn’t know, but she had heard every word.
Denise nodded. “I’m glad you understand. They talk about giving us freedom, but even my sister’s marriage wasn’t her own choice.
“She didn’t marry the person she loved. Anyway, you should be happy from now on. Next time you have a performance, you have to save me a VIP ticket.”
Denise tilted her head, looking adorably hopeful.
“Sure.” Rebecca nodded.
Whether it was the truth or just comfort, the girl was genuinely kind and thoughtful.
The troupe was recruiting new members. Some students were leaving Paris and wouldn’t renew their contracts, so Rebecca needed to fill the spots early.
They also needed fresh dancers for new productions, and she wanted to develop a few potential principal dancers.
Thanks to their success at the arts festival, quite a few talented applicants had shown up. Rebecca set aside two full days, for auditions.
The moment a girl named Margaret Shaw appeared, Rebecca sensed something different. She was young with excellent proportions and a long, graceful neck like a proud swan.
She wore an expensive, custom–made leotard; every detail showed careful attention and screamed wealth. She performed the required combination with almost no flaws. Her technique, strength, flexibility, and control were all impressive.
