Chapter 6m
Gabriel placed his hands on
shooblets and pulled her into a gentle hop
No words were needed. Some questions simply didn’t have easy answers, and sometimes silence was the kindest
Vance’s situation wasn’t optimistic. From Anna, Rebecca learned he had suffered internal organ rupture and multiple fract in his lower body.
She hoped his injuries were no worse than the bodyguard? just broken bones that would heal-nothing like the damage that had once affected her ability to walk
She wanted to visit him. Although he was in the ICU, the hospital still allowed visiting hours. The problem was that she was only his ex-wife.
That day, while heading to the hospital to see the two bodyguards, she worked up the courage to call Anna
“Would it be okay if I came with you during afternoon visiting hours to see Vance?”
“I-I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Okay, then L…” Rebecca felt a wave of awkwardness and didn’t push. As the ex-wife, she indeed shouldn’t show too much concern. She whispered, “I just feel really sorry.”
“Let’s wait until he’s better and out of the ICU. I’ll let you know then.”
“Alright.”
After the call ended, Rebecca stood holding her phone, unaware that Josette had walked up to her side.
“Becky…” Josette called gently.
Rebecca quickly composed herself. “Grandma, are you ready? Let’s go.”
Josette wanted to visit the injured young men in the hospital. The kind-hearted elder had been worried about them and had prepared nourishing soup.
“I don’t know what they can eat right now, but we’ll bring some anyway,” she said, packing the soup in containers.
Rebecca’s heart sank again. The two bodyguards could eat most things by now, but Vance…
They left the house with extra caution, traveling in three cars filled with bodyguards. Sant and the other bodyguards were in separate VIP rooms arranged by Gabriel.
One was in orthopedics, and the other in general surgery.
Josette had brought different soups: nourishing chicken soup for Sant’s gunshot wound and restorative soup for the other bodyguard’s fractures. She had also prepared beautifully arranged fresh fruit.
