But Vanes retained a heavy concern.
“Becky,” Josette said, “even iwe can’t see Vance, we should at least ask the doctor how he’s doing. It will give us some peace of mind.”
Rebecca agreed. Everything she knew had come secondhand from Gabriel or Anna. Speaking to the doctor directly would be clearer.
They headed toward the ICU and, by chance, saw Vance after all.

Chapter 602
The ICU had glass walls. When they arrived, Anna had just finished her visit and was stepping out.
Anna looked surprised to see them, then a flicker of panic crossed her face. She walked over and asked, “What brings you guys here?”
Her eyes darted toward the doctor’s office.
Rebecca explained, “I came to visit my bodyguards and thought I’d ask the doctor about Vance’s condition. Also…”
She was also worried about the medical bills. ICU care was expensive.
When they divorced, Vance had given her almost all his money. Later, he had donated most of his father’s inheritance, and his shop had been forced to close.
She had no idea how much he had left or whether he had proper insurance here! The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.
She decided to at least take care of the medical bills.
Anna’s expression shifted slightly. “Did you find the doctor yet?”
Rebecca shook her head. “I just got here. I haven’t spoken to anyone yet.”
Anna then led Rebecca and Josette over to see Vance-through the glass only. He lay motionless, deeply unconscious and looking lifeless.
“He was badly hurt, so he needs to stay in the ICU for now,” Anna said. “But the doctor said his condition is stable today. If nothing goes wrong, he should be able to move to a regular room in a few days.”
Rebecca stared at the man behind the glass and felt the world tilt/He didn’t look nearly as stable as Anna claimed. His injuries seemed far worse than hers had ever been.
“Anna,” Rebecca took a shaky breath, “is that really true?”
“Yeah. Right now, I just want him to get better quickly. We still have so many things we haven’t done yet,” Anna replied, gazing at him.
A faint light shone in her eyes. Whether it was hope or tears, Rebecca couldn’t tell.
“I…” Rebecca fumbled for words, but nothing felt appropriate given her position. Her chest felt painfully tight. In the end, she could only manage, “If you need anything at all, please tell me.”
