Chapter 626

Rebecca didn’t want to showin

The form had been handed out a while ago. Her old self had filled in science, and she hadn’t changed it yet.

Vance frowned at her hesitation. Take it out. We have to submit it soon. You didn’t reallylisten to Darren, did you?Darren? What did he say?Jenny asked curiously.

Rebecca glanced at Jenny and decided not to explain right then.

I thought about it, and I’m going toShe was about to say artswhen Vance suddenly yanked her backpack away.

She reached to grab it back. What are you doing?

But he had already pulled out the folder. Her form was right on top, clearly visible through the transparent sleeve: science.

The corner of his mouth curved up slightly. He returned the backpack, took the form out, and said, Submit it.

No!she said quickly. My parents haven’t signed it yet.

He checked and saw the parent signature line was still blank. He hesitated, then handed it back.

The form was due that week, but since Rebecca had only arrived in this dream recently, she had forgotten. She arranged with the

home teacher to submit it two days late on the weekend.

The home teacher agreed, since Friday or next Monday made little difference.

Vance didn’t ask again until the next Monday. Did you submit it?

I did.She had turned it in early that morning, after changing science to arts.

Vance said nothing more and left.

Later, she overheard him talking to Darren. Rebecca has already submitted science. There’s no way she’d pick arts. You thought too much.

So what?Darren retorted. It only proves how selfish you are.

You have the nerve to call me selfish? Pushing her toward arts isn’t selfish?

What do you take her for? A sidekick? A pet? Someone to play with when you’re happy and kick aside when you’re not?

r

What does it have to do with you? She likes me!

Rebecca turned to walk away.

So, Vance had always known she liked him. Of course. A teenage girl’s feelings, no matter how well hidden, couldn’t stay completely invisible.

Yet even knowing that, he had still gone after Catherine after graduation and applied to the same schools as her.

That was ancient history now. The grievances between them had long been worn away by time. In this dream, they should just stay far apart.
