Chapter 656
Lauren smiled at her. “Thank you.
There wasn’t much time to talk on stage. Rebecca had to step down, hoping she would see Lauren again on the academy cam one day.
Outside the theater, the night breeze cooled the turbulent emotions in her heart. Looking at Darren beside her, she felt a little embarrassed crying like that in front of him.
“I…” The rims of her eyes were still red. “That was embarrassing.”
“Not at all,” he said. Under the streetlights, his eyes looked soft and misty. “Being moved by something you’re truly passionate about is admirable.”
It was the first time Rebecca had heard someone describe crying as something so great. She couldn’t help laughing. “Darren, you really know what to say.”
He shook his head. “I mean it. It’s rare for someone to have a passion they’re devoted to, let alone be moved to tears by it. I really envy you.”
“If you keep talking like that, I’m going to get a big head,” she said with a grin.
“You deserve to be proud!” he said sincerely.
She began thinking more about who he really was. He had his own passions. He loved observing the world, measuring it with his footsteps, and recording it with his eyes.
But besides that? Did he have any other deep loves?
“What’s your dream?” she asked, curious about what else he pursued.
“Me…” Darren smiled. “My biggest wish is to live somewhere up north where it snows in winter. A house with big floor–to- ceiling windows so I can see the snow outside.
“My family and I would sit by the fireplace, stew meat, drink wine, and watch the snow fall.”
Rebecca’s mind flashed back to her days in Ireland. She stared at him, searching his eyes for any clues.
Darren smiled at her. “What? Do you think my dream is too plain?”
“No…” She grabbed his arm. “I was just thinking that fireplaces are popular abroad. Are you planning to go overseas eventually?

“Not necessarily,” he said.
She breathed a sigh of relief. “Have you ever been to a place like that? The way you describe it sounds like you’ve experienced it before.”
“You know I’m often alone.” He shrugged. “On holidays or birthdays, it’s usually just me. I think fire has the power to bring people together. Everyone likes gathering in warm places, right?
