Chapter 719
In the end, Fabio couldn’t stop Rebecca and Hazel from calling the police.
Hazel dialed the number right there in the office.
The police arrived quickly, and the boys went back to class, leaving the bulletin board clear. By the time the officers finished collecting evidence and taking statements, the first class still hadn’t ended.
Fabio’s sharp gaze spoke volumes. If Hazel were in the ruming for a professional title promotion this year, her chances woul be all but ruined.
“Mr. Pearson, I’ll take Rebecca back to class now. Thank you for your time,” Hazel said, taking Rebecca’s arm.
Fabio didn’t say anything else. Once they left, he called the academic affairs office and asked them to contact Rebecca’s paren
In his mind, even if the police had been involved, he could still pressure them into a quiet settlement.
Rebecca went through the rest of the day normally, fully aware that many people were talking about her. Her younger self mig have caved under the pressure, but the current her certainly would not.
She had been through far worse storms in the other timeline. This kind of rumor-mongering felt all too familiar. It was someone’s signature move.
Yet, amidst the sea of judgment, there were also many people genuinely caring for her. Jenny ran to the arts classroom every break to check on her and try to cheer her up with jokes.
Jethro scratched his head, recalling how she had been crying in front of Vance and the whole school not long ago.
Unaware of his thought, she simply waved a hand and told him not to worry. It seemed, except for Vance, almost everyone connected to her had come by to offer support.
That afternoon, Darren was indeed absent, and so was Vance. In fact, he had been missing all day.
Rebecca and Jenny went to the cafeteria for dinner, naturally flanked by the group of boys. Once they finished eating, the two girls prepared to head over to the showers.
At this point in time, the school campus hadn’t been expanded yet. The dorm bathrooms were still the old communal style with individual curtained stalls.
The two girls carried their shower supplies, then turned around to see the boys still following. Rebecca was amused. “You’re going to follow us into the shower, too?”
