Chapter 721
Jenny gripped Beatrice’s phone tightly, navigating straight into her messaging app. She instantly located a chat log wi contact saved as “Cathy CC.”
Tapping on the thread, she began playing the consecutive voice messages.
“Beatrice, don’t be scared. My mom went straight to Mr. Pearson to set this up. I’m untouchable at this school, so do w you and do it well. The Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet is all yours.”
Below it was an $18 transfer with the memo: [Buy yourself a cup of bubble tea.]
Rebecca finally understood why Fabio had been so dead set against calling the police. Her intuition hadn’t been wrong a Catherine was the culprit behind everything.
The fact of Fabio’s involvement shocked Jenny, but she quickly composed herself, steadying her camera and recording t entire chat log, including the parts mentioning Fabio and the transfer details.
She did it twice: once with the audio playing and the other time with the voice-to-text transcription displayed on screen
Once done, she nodded to Rebecca. “Got it.”
Rebecca signaled for her to permanently delete the videos from Beatrice’s phone.
Beatrice had been anchored by her scalp the entire time; every single time she had tried to squirm or break free, excruciat pain had ripped through her head.
Seeing that the footage she took had been wiped, she wept hysterically and begged, “Can you please just let me go now?”
The latter squealed in pain, and she added. “Tell her I already know she’s behind everything. And tell her that just because she not 18 yet doesn’t mean she can do whatever she wants. There is a price to pay. Make sure you pass that message on to her.
She finally released Beatrice and led Jenny to gather their things. Beatrice ran her fingers through her messy scalp, only to pull out a massive, tangled clump of loose hair.
“What do we do? I heard she filed a police report this morning, and now she has evidence of us filming her in the stalls She’s definitely going to hand those files over to the police!” One of the girls began to weep in sheer panic. “If I get taken in, my dad will kill me.”
Beatrice was shaken as well. “Let’s go find Catherine. She ordered us to do this.”
The girls scrambled up from the wet bathroom floor and rushed off to find Catherine. But before they could reach her, Rebecca and Jenny saw her first.
Behind the academic building, Catherine was standing face-to-face with Vance. She was crying again.
