The man wore a black windbreaker and cargo pants. He had on a black baseball cap and a mask, making it impossible for Mark to discern his skin color or age.
Mark's instincts screamed that the man was dangerous. Though he could hear their voices, he couldn't understand what they were saying.
They were conversing in Cardenian.
After a long moment, Damien turned his head and spoke to Mark.
"Get back in the car."
"But Damien..." Mark looked at the man in black, his face lined with worry. "He looks extremely dangerous."
Damien stared at him, his gaze unwavering.
"Get in the car."
Helpless, Mark retreated to the car, looking back with every step. He didn't get inside, however. Instead, he kept a vigilant eye on the scene, ready to rush over at a moment's notice.
Once Mark was far enough away, Damien turned his attention back to the man in black.
The man in black pointed to a small private yacht docked in the distance.
About two minutes later, the man in black took the lead and boarded the yacht.
"Tell Grace I'll bring Gianna back."
Damien shouted to Mark in the distance.
Then, without a shred of hesitation, he strode forward with his long legs and followed the man onto the small vessel.
"Damien!"
Mark's cry rang out instantly.
He reacted quickly, immediately sprinting after him.
Unfortunately, the moment Damien stepped on board, the yacht began to pull away.
"Insane... they're all insane..."
Mark watched the speedboat disappear into the night, stomping his feet in sheer panic.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Lottie's number.
Inside the embassy reception room.
"What do you mean... it pulled away?"
Grace felt like everything she was experiencing bordered on pure fantasy.
