Fluffy Mates Chase Their Boss on Survival Show novel Chapter 391

Chapter 391 Honoring the Bargain

“You won’t survive that blast,” Layla stated, the finality heavy in her voice.

Liam’s reply was quiet, utterly resolute. “Just you surviving is enough.”

The very idea was unthinkable to her.

Finished

Before she could argue, a surge of energy erupted from the pirate ship’s core. The window for escape had slammed shut.

With a slow, steadying breath, Layla braced herself.

Her only hope was to channel the Starcore Essence within her, forming a protective shield against the imminent detonation.

As she focused her energy, a searing lance of plasma shot from an unseen source, striking the pirate vessel’s left wing.

The ship lurched violently, its structural integrity failing with a groan of tortured metal.

Stunned, Layla spun toward the source of the attack.

Her eyes widened. “The Fleet!”

The weight finally lifted off her chest. And Liam waved back at them.

A single figure detached from the lead military cruiser, landing with a controlled impact beside Liam.

“General Hartwell.”

The man-Noah Stanley, Liam’s second-in-command-snapped a crisp salute.

Liam dismissed the formality with a curt wave. “Save the ceremony. Neutralize the hostiles. Now.”

Noah barked orders into his comm. In moments, a dozen sleek Fleet fighters had Taylor’s crippled ship surrounded in a lethal constellation.

Despite the sudden reversal, Taylor showed no panic.

His gaze remained fixed, his hand outstretched toward Layla. “Give Mia back to me, and I’ll let you walk away.”

Layla took a deliberate step back, glancing at Mia beside her.

A hint of dark humor touched her words. “Is this why you turned him down? Had a feeling the wiring was a little… fried?”

Mia almost laughed, a strangled sound she quickly swallowed. Now was not the time.

“I just thought he was too intense. I wanted to wait until he becomes calmer,” she said.

Layla let out a low whistle, the sound sharp in the tense air.

Chapter 391 Honoring the Bargain

Well, well. I’ve heard plenty of guys spin that line before. But hearing it from a girl? Honestly, kind of refreshing.

Taylor’s expression shuttered.

imaned

He had always known deep down that his feelings for Mia were largely one-sided. But hearing it said sq casually, especially from Mia herself, still sent a dull ache through his chest.

His eyes darkened for a fleeting moment before he forced the hurt aside, his focus snapping back into place.

“Even if Mia doesn’t want me that way, it doesn’t change my job. My only goal is to keep her safe,” he said, his voice low and steady.

He took a step forward, his demand a low growl. “I said, let her go.”

The tense standoff was shattered by a distant, piercing shriek.

The Thunder Pterosaur descended from the cloud cover, a mangled piece of wreckage-another pirate ship -clutched in its talons.

It dropped the scrap with a deafening crash that shook the ground.

A slow, knowing smile spread across Layla’s lips as she turned back to Taylor. “Still think you’re in a position to negotiate? What were your people really doing on A13?”

Taylor’s jaw tightened. “The Starcore Ore. Don’t play dumb.”

“How did you even know it was here?” Layla pressed.

The planetary survey team had scanned this sector repeatedly, marking it as barren and uninhabited.

His eyes never left Mia. “Release her. Then I’ll tell you.”

A solution came from Liam’s direction. A sleek, golden band clattered onto the ground between them.

“Put this on him. It’s a restraint field. Any hostile move, and I activate it,” Liam instructed, holding up a small, handheld device.

Layla looked toward Taylor.

To everyone’s surprise, Taylor didn’t hesitate. He strode forward, snatched the band, and snapped it around his own wrist.

Sharp, microscopic barbs immediately extended, anchoring into his flesh.

He didn’t flinch, his gaze locked on Layla, a silent demand.

Honoring the bargain, Layla gave Mia a gentle push toward him.
