The Resting Place of the Dead.

Cassian got up very early since he hadn’t been able to sleep. He went out to run through the gardens to try to clear his mind a bit. He had told Alessandro that he would stay, but he couldn’t stop thinking about Maya, wondering if she was scared in a strange land with
unfamiliar faces.
Cassian ran for several hours until he was completely exhausted. With labored breathing and panting, he sat under a tree to rest for a moment. While he was resting, Ethan approached him and asked, “What are you running from?”
“I’m not running away.”
“Well, you run as if you were.”
“I was just clearing my mind.”
“Are you still thinking about the fairy girl?”
“I think about her every minute and every second of the day.”
“Will you really go after her?”
“Yes, not right now, but I will go after her. I promised her.”
“Even if you go to find her, you won’t be able to bring her back. The Fairy Queen won’t allow it.”
“I don’t need her permission.”
“You don’t understand. Your girlfriend has sworn loyalty to the Fairy Queen. No matter where
she is bound to her. They’ve put a leash on her, and the queen will never take it off.”
she
goes,
“I will find a way to free her. I don’t plan to abandon her.”
“The Fairy Queen is someone dangerous. Don’t underestimate her.”
“I don’t. I know she is someone to be careful of, but I don’t care how dangerous or difficult it is; I’m willing to take any risk to win back the woman I love.”
“I think it’s complete madness to want to face the Fairy Queen, but I admire your courage. If I had had the same attitude as you, maybe I wouldn’t have lost the woman I love. Maybe I wouldn’t be so unhappy right now.”
“Once I gave up on the one I loved because I knew that person wasn’t for me. Now I’ve fallen in love again, and I don’t plan to give up on the woman I love, for nothing or no one.

Ethan began to walk away and said, “Good luck. Trust me, you’re going to need it.”
Sirius was heading to Alessandro’s office when he heard someone calling him.
*Sirius.”
He looked around to see who was calling him. It was Abril, hiding behind a column. Sirius approached, looking somewhat puzzled.
“Your Majesty.”
Abril took Sirius’s hand and dragged him behind the column. They were very close, and Sirius felt uncomfortable, fearing what the king would do if he saw them in that situation.
“Your Majesty, if someone sees us this close, it could lead to a misunderstanding, and I’m sure my life would end at that moment.”
“I just want to talk to you for a moment, but I don’t want to be seen. The elven army is around here. Alessandro forbade me to go out, but there’s something I want to ask you. Promise me you won’t tell Alessandro anything we are talking about.”
“Alright, but please step back a little. I really don’t want to die yet.”
“Die? Why would you die?”
“The king is very possessive; if he sees us this close, he’ll attack first and ask questions later. He tends to lose his mind when it comes to Your Majesty.”
“I suppose you’re right. It’s just that I don’t want anyone to see me. As I mentioned before, Alessandro didn’t want me to leave my room while the elves were in the palace.”
Sirius took off a ring he was wearing on his hand and said, “Put this on. It’s a magic ring. With it, you can change your appearance, so we can talk comfortably, and I’ll worry less about my safety.”
Abril took the ring and placed it on her finger. The ring magically adjusted to her finger. Having used a magic jewel before, she knew what to do. She turned the ring once, and her reddish hair changed color to black. Then she turned the ring again to change the color of her eyes to brown, but it didn’t work; her eyes remained golden. Sirius said to her,
“It’s surprising that your eyes haven’t changed color, it seems they can’t be concealed by magic. Try turning the ring a third time to change the color of your clothes.”
“Can I really do that?”

“Of course, just think about the outfit you want to wear. I’d suggest going with a maid’s uniform to blend in better.”
Abril did as Sirius said, and her pink dress with delicate lace changed to a simple black dress with an apron. She was amazed and asked while pointing at the ring.
“Can I keep it?”
“Of course.”
Alessandro had given Abril a ring just like that one, but she had lost it during the journey, so having a ring that allowed her to change her appearance and clothes would be very useful, especially at that moment.
“Thank you so much, this will be really handy, and it’ll save me time changing.”
“The ring only creates an illusion, so be careful how you use it.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.”
“With that look, I doubt anyone will recognize you, at least from a distance, so we can talk freely.”
Abril felt more at ease after changing her appearance, as no one would recognize her, and
she said.
“I want to ask you something about my magic. My mother told me that I must break all the seals, but when that happens, she will disappear, and I won’t see her in my dreams anymore. I don’t want that; I don’t want to lose her. Is there a way to break the seals without that happening?”
“I’d need to analyze it with my magic. I need to know how your mother is tied to maybe she doesn’t want you to save her. Have you considered that possibility?”
you,
but
“What?”
“She died years ago; maybe she just wants her soul to rest.”
“But I don’t want to lose her.”
“There comes a time in everyone’s life when we have to let go of our loved ones, even if it
hurts.”
