She Is and Always Will Be My Only Wife
Alessandro gave her a soft kiss on the lips and a strong embrace. They remained that wi for a minute, feeling each other’s gentle breath and heartbeats. He ran his band tenderly through Abril’s curls and said to her.
“You’re no longer alone, Abril. I’m here for you”
She saw total sincerity in his beautiful green eyes, took his hand, brought it to her cheek, GNA replied.
“I know, it’s just that so many things have happened these days. I’m afraid of whats to come. I’m afraid of losing you, Lessan”
In reality, Alessandro was also afraid of losing her. It seemed as if everyone was conserng to separate her from him, and he was afraid of losing those he loved again to Ying Yanotacti He took Abril’s face in his hands, pressed his forehead against hers, looked directly ints her eyes, and replied.
“I’m also afraid, and I’m glad to feel it, because if I didn’t, I would be a reckless fool Pby, #s okay to be afraid; fear is the only thing that prevents us from being reckless, just never let fear control you.”
The sound of the door interrupted them; it was Gabriel peeking his head through. Upon seeing Abril with the king, he apologized,
“I apologize for interrupting, Your Majesty, Duke Vampel is already here?
Alessandro looked at Abril, hating the idea of having to part from her, especially since she had been the one to come looking for him, something she never did. Abril separated from
Alessandro and said to him,
“You must be very busy, I should go”
Alessandro wanted to tell her to stay and that he would refuse to attend to Duke Vamped, but he knew that if he didn’t receive him, it would cause a great uproar. He pulled her hand bringing her back towards him, gave her a soft kiss on the lips, and said
“When I finish talking with the duke, I’ll come to see you*
“If you’re very busy, you don’t have to do that. I’ll wait until nightfall
“No matter how busy I get, Aby, I’ll always make time for you?
Alessandro turned to Gabriel and said,

Gabriel left the office and brought in the duke. When Duke Vampel entered, he bowed to
Alessandro.
“Your Majesty.”
Then he greeted Abril. His greeting was somewhat rude, as he did not recognize her as
queen.
“Greetings to Princess Abril.”
Alessandro was upset by Duke Vampel’s refusal to acknowledge Abril as queen.
“She is my wife, my queen. Do you refuse to recognize her as such?”
Seeing the growing anger in the king’s eyes, the duke had no choice but to lower his head and apologize to Abril.
“I’m sorry, Your Majesty, I was mistaken. I apologize if I have offended her.”
“I accept your apology, Your Grace.”
Abril disliked the way Duke Vampel looked at her; she simply wanted to leave the room as quickly as possible.
“I’ll be going now.”
“I’ll come soon.”
Alessandro replied before Abril left the room, and once they were alone, he said to the duke.
“If you are rude to my wife again, rest assured, your head will roll.”
“Don’t worry, Your Majesty, that won’t happen again.”
“You’d better ensure it doesn’t.”
Alessandro took his place behind his desk and, with a voice still filled with anger, asked him.
“What business do you have with me, Duke, that you insist on an audience?”
“I have come to plead for clemency for my daughter Victoria, Your Majesty. Since you banned her from the palace, she has been very depressed.”
“No, I don’t want to see her in the palace; she was rude to my wife and tried to attack her..
“But Your Majesty…”

1 was lenient with her, otherwise, she would not be alive. You know the price for attacking a member of the royal family is death.”
1 know, Your Majesty, but I just want you to think about the future of this kingdom; another war is about to start, and Your Majesty still doesn’t have an heir.”
“That’s none of your concern.”
“As a noble, I believe it concerns me. Your Majesty has been married for four years, and there is still no news of an heir. It seems the queen cannot bear children, so you must consider taking another wife and…”
Alessandro slammed the desk with open palms, startling Duke Vampel, and said with an intense look full of anger.
“Shut your mouth, if you say one more word, I’ll tear out your tongue and throw it to the dogs. Abril is the only wife I will have. I don’t care if you’re an influential person, Duke, neither you nor anyone else will force me to take another wife, and whoever mentions it again will have to pay the price that entails.”
The duke, seeing the king so determined, realized that continuing to insist would be madress. He apologized, made an exaggerated bow, and said.
“I sincerely apologize if I have offended Your Majesty. I was only thinking about what would be best for the kingdom.”
“If that is all you have to say, you should leave now.”
“Yes, forgive me for taking up Your Majesty’s valuable time.”
Before rising, the duke discreetly dropped a seed beneath the king’s desk.
“I take my leave, Your Majesty.”
Duke Vampel’s true purpose was never to persuade His Majesty to accept his daughter as a second wife; it was merely a pretext to enter the king’s office and plant a seed of darkness, as he had been instructed.
As he left the office, Gabriel thought he saw the duke smiling. He entered the office shortly after and asked,
“What did the duke want?”
“He wanted me to lift the ban on his daughter entering the palace, but I told him I would never allow that woman to set foot in this palace again; she dared to harm Abril, and I will never forgive her for that

“If he didn’t get what he wanted, why did he look so pleased?
Gabriel wondered aloud.
“Pleased?”
“Yes, I thought I saw him smiling.”
“You must have been mistaken.”
Alessandro stood up.
“I’m taking the rest of the day off. You handle the paperwork.”
Gabriel, seeing the mountain of papers on the king’s desk, asked,
“Do I have to handle all of that?”
“Yes, any objections?”
“Would it matter if I said yes?”
“No, you’ll still have to handle the paperwork.”
။
Alessandro headed towards the door and, before leaving, said,
“Make sure you finish all of that today.”
“What?”

Alessandro didn’t respond; he left the room, and Gabriel, seeing the mountain of papers on the desk, cursed the king, knowing that with all that work he would have to stay working all
night.
“Damn tyrant, acting like he’s the only one with a family.”
He shouted as he sat in the king’s chair, tears in his eyes, staring at that mountain of papers. It would be another night he couldn’t go home to his family.
