A Creature from the Depths of the Underworld
Enzo took a ruby pendant and ring from his pocket; he gave the ring to the Fairy Queen and the pendant to his sister.
“They are magical jewels. When they shine, it will be the signal I give you to set our plan in motion. Fairy Queen, when that happens, you must create a good distraction to draw my sister Cira’s attention.”
Enzo turned to Abril.
“When you see that Cira is distracted, I’ll open a portal that will take you directly to where Cira is. You won’t have much time, so you’ll have to attack instantly.”
Enzo stared at the ground for a moment, then said.
“I need to get out of here before my sister realizes I’m gone. I’ll do my part of the plan, and I hope you all do yours too; sis, when you face Cira, don’t hesitate; take her down.”
Enzo disappeared into one of the shadows of the tent. Once alone, the Fairy Queen said to her.
“Try to keep this alliance secret from your friends.”
“Why? I think they have a right to know what’s going on.”
“No, your friends are a real nuisance. If you tell them about this alliance, they’ll make a fuss, and
now’s not the best time for that.”
“Even so, I think…”
The Fairy Queen interrupted her saying.
“To defeat your sister, you must go to the battlefield. Are you ready to face her?”
Of her siblings, Cira was the one who had treated her the worst, always showing her pure hatred every time she saw her. Although memories of the past came to her mind when she thought of her and how she made her have a hard time, she forced herself to say,
“I am no longer someone weak and powerless; I am ready to face my sister.”
“I hope so, otherwise we will all die, and there will be no future for the family.”
“What?”
“I’m busy, I have to go.”
After the Fairy Queen left, Abril wondered what she had meant by the last thing she said, but her interest in that didn’t last long. There were still many wounded to treat, and she couldn’t afford to get lost in her thoughts.

Abril returned to the tent where the wounded were and began to heal them. When there were no
more wounded, she felt as if all the accumulated fatigue hit her at once. It was as if all her strength had left her, and she worried a little thinking she was losing control of her magic, but then she
realized it was just fatigue; since she had been in the land of the fairies, she hadn’t had a good rest, so it was normal for her body to start demanding it.
She lay down on one of the cots and closed her eyes for what seemed like a moment, but when
she opened them again, she discovered it was already another day. A piercing scream was heard
in the distance, so loud and annoying that she had to cover her ears. Cassian entered the tent and
said to her.
“Finally up?”
“What was that?”
“Nothing good.”
Abril got up in a hurry, which made her feel dizzy. Cassian grabbed her arm and asked,
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, I just stood up too quickly. Let’s go outside; I want to see what’s happening.”
As they left the tent, they headed to the edge of the camp, where all the healers and doctors were gathered, all looking into the distance. Abril squinted to see better. In the distance, a huge black stain, as thick as ink, hissed and crawled across the battlefield. Abril felt a shiver run through her body; despite the great distance that separated them, she could clearly sense all the evil and
darkness that creature harbored.
Abril’s face was as pale as a sheet of paper. Cassian placed a hand on her shoulder and asked repeatedly, since Abril seemed to be in shock.
“Aby, what’s wrong?…”
Cassian had to shake her to get her to react.
“Aby, answer me.”
“That creature is going to kill them all.”
“What?”
“That’s not just any monster, if we don’t do something, everyone will die.”
“Calm down, Aby. Everyone is fighting right now, and the queen is with them. She has great power; they’ll be fine.”
“No, Cassian, this time they won’t be. My sister has released something that should have never come out of Hades. Even if all the monsters on the battlefield were gathered, they couldn’t

compare to the evil and darkness emanating from that being. We must warn them.”
That day Maya had gone to the battlefield. Cassian looked into the distance in horror.
“Maya is on the battlefield right now! I need to go get her. Aby, leave; this is too dangerous.”
After saying that, Cassian ran off, using his earth magic to quickly reach the battlefield. The
battlefield was in chaos. He searched for Maya with his eyes while a bunch of monsters gathered
around him.
Maya was alongside Ethan and Dantriel, fighting fiercely when she saw the earth rise from the ground, creating enormous spikes. She recognized that magic; it was Cassian, but she wondered
what he was doing there, as he was not supposed to be there. He was supposed to stay in the
camp, behind the barrier the fairy queen had created.
“Cassian is in trouble, we must help him.”
“What is that i***t doing here?”
Shouted Ethan while impaling a monster with a spear.
“I don’t know, but we must go help him, all the monsters seem to be going after him.”
Dantriel said,
“I’ll clear the way, let’s go.”
Ethan found it somewhat annoying to have to run to rescue the human prince in the middle of the
battle, but he still went with them.
When they reached Cassian, Maya hugged him, and he returned the hug, feeling relieved to see she
was alright.
“What are you doing here, Cassian?” Maya asked.
“I…”
Ethan interrupted them, saying,
“We’re on the battlefield with thousands of monsters that seem to be after this i***t prince. This isn’t the best time for flirting.”
Dantriel said,
“I agree with Ethan, Cassian, you need to leave. You’re only making things worse.”
“We all need to leave.”
“Are you crazy? Can’t you see how bad things are here?”
Cassian pointed to the enormous monster on the battlefield that the fairy queen was fighting.
