“I was planning to return to my territory, but I’ll stay a bit longer and celebrate with you.”
Alessandro saw one of the maids and instructed her to take breakfast to his wife and call the doctor. Even though Abril insisted she was fine, he wouldn’t be at ease until the doctor confirmed it. Alessandro said goodbye to his brother and returned to the room to be with Abril.
Several maids entered shortly after, carrying trays of food and sweets for the queen. Abril tasted everything they brought her; it was all delicious, and she ate until she was completely satisfied.
“It seems you have more of an appetite now?”
“There were days when I couldn’t eat anything, so I won’t miss the chance to eat now that I can.”
“Then I’ll have them prepare delicious dishes, sweets, and desserts of all kinds. I don’t want you to
ever feel hungry again.”
“That would be terrible; there’s no greater pleasure than eating when you’re hungry. If you’re not hungry, even the most delicious food loses its flavor.”
“I suppose you’re right. I’ll make sure the servants take great care of you.”
The doctor knocked on the door and asked for permission to enter. Abril looked at Alessandro and
said,
“So, you did call the doctor.”

“I just wanted to make sure everything was alright since I was a bit rough with you yesterday.”
The doctor entered, interrupting their conversation. After examining the queen and giving a positive diagnosis, the doctor left the room.
Abril said to him,
“I told you, there was nothing to worry about. I’m fine, and so is the baby.”
Alessandro gave her a gentle kiss on the lips and responded,
“And I thank the heavens for that.”
That same day, Alessandro announced at the palace that the queen was pregnant. Everyone in the
palace rejoiced at the news.
The news quickly reached the nobles, silencing those who were pressuring the king for an heir. A month later, a festival was held to celebrate the queen’s pregnancy. Diplomats from several nearby
kingdoms were invited, all offering gifts to the king and blessings for the queen’s pregnancy.
Abril sat next to Alessandro in the throne room as a long line of guests congratulated them. She
was getting a bit tired of all the congratulations and whispered to Alessandro,
“How much longer will this last?”
“The celebration will last seven days, this is the first so there are six left.”
Abril stared intently at her husband and said,
“You’re kidding, right?”
“I’m not.”
“Why do you have to throw such a big celebration?”
Alessandro took Abril’s hand and replied,
“Because I want everyone to know who my queen is and how happy I am by your side.”
After that explanation, Abril couldn’t stay mad at Alessandro and continued to receive blessings
and gifts.
That night, there was a grand ball with all the nobles invited. After dancing one song, the royal couple retired, as the queen, being pregnant, needed to rest, and the king, who loved her deeply, couldn’t bear to be apart from her.
These were the stories circulating among the nobles, though in reality, Abril just wanted to escape
the situation. They both headed to one of the most secluded balconies where no one would interrupt them.
“Why’d you bring me here?”
