Someone who loves me
Abril didn’t know how she had gotten to the balcony. She had fallen asleep and didn’t remember
getting up.
Alessandro carried her in his arms and said, “You must go back to bed.”
“I really don’t know how I got to the balcony,” Abril said.
“It’s okay, I believe you.”
Alessandro gently placed her on the bed and said, “Are you alright? Does your wound hurt?”
“A little, but I’m fine,” she replied.
“Go back to sleep.”
Alessandro took off his jacket, loosened his shirt and shoes, and then laid next to Abril. She stared
at him.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” He asked.
“I’m not sleepy.”
“Well, I am, so close your eyes and sleep. I won’t be able to sleep until you do.”
“Perhaps I should be in another room.”
“What?”
“I was sharing a room with Your Majesty to give you an heir, but in my state that’s impossible. I’m just a nuisance to Your Majesty.”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because I don’t want you far from me.”
“I don’t understand. Why does Your Majesty want to have me close when he hates me?”
“I don’t hate you, at least not now, so get that silly idea of wanting to go to another room out of your head.”
“What has changed? Why doesn’t Your Majesty hate me anymore?”
“I don’t know, I just don’t hate you anymore. You don’t like that?”
“It’s not that, it just seems strange to me. No one has ever cared about me. I’m not used to Your

Alessandro wondered what kind of life Abril had lived in the kingdom of Laios. He asked, “What was your life like in the kingdom of Laios?”
“Hum…. Lonely. I was never someone anyone loved. I don’t even remember anyone being kind to me in that place.”
“Was your mother not kind to you either?”
“My mother died giving birth to me. I never met her, nor do I know much about her, only what the maids said when they were annoyed.”
“What did they say?”
“Why didn’t I die with my mother? That I shouldn’t have been born. When I was little, I was very
sickly. They hated having to take care of me. To everyone, I was just someone annoying who
shouldn’t have survived. I don’t even know how I’m still alive, since they always neglected me.”
Remembering what her life had been like in the kingdom of Laios, Abril frowned and said, “When
that maid attacked me, I thought I was going to die. I thought I would never open my eyes again,
and at that precise moment I realized that I have never been happy, that there has never been anyone to love me.”
Alessandro stared at her intently and asked, “Do you want me to love you?”
“I have never expected love from Your Majesty. I wonder if when I have a child, he will love me.”
“You will be his mother. I’m sure he will love you, and I think I will too.”
Abril’s eyes widened, and she wondered if she had heard correctly. She cleaned her ears and said, “Maybe I should sleep, I think I’m hearing things.”
Alessandro caressed her cheek and asked, “Don’t you want me to love you?”
“Why would Your Majesty love me?”
“Do I need a reason to do so?”
“I don’t know how love itself works. It’s something I have no knowledge about.”
Alessandro moved a little closer to Abril, gave her a soft kiss on her lips, hugged her, and said, “You don’t need any reason to love, it just happens. You fall in love without thinking, without planning, without realizing it. When I saw that you were about to die I was scared, I didn’t want to lose you.
I’m
sorry if that’s annoying to you, but I want to have you close to me and make sure you’re okay.”
Abril didn’t know what to think about what the king was saying to her, so she just remained silent,

The next day, Alessandro sent for Sirius. When he arrived, he said, “Something strange happened
with the princess yesterday.”
“What?”
“She was on the balcony.”
“That means she’s better now, isn’t she?”
“She was asleep, she didn’t know how she got to the balcony.”
“Maybe she sleepwalks. I’ve heard some people do.”
don’t know, I felt something strange when I saw her on the balcony, it was like she was another
person.”
“She was asleep, it’s natural that she doesn’t act the same way she always does.”
“I guess you’re right. How is the assignment I gave you going?”
“It’s only been a day, you can’t expect me to have found a miracle medicine to heal wounds, especially considering I can’t use magic since the princess nullifies all magic.”
“Well, get to it.”
“Yes, I’ll go back to the Mages‘ Tower right now and get to it.”
As Sirius approached the door, Alessandro said, “I told the princess I could love her.”
“So you’re going to do what I suggested? Are you going to make the princess fall in love with you? Her magic is dangerous, it’s best to have her on our side, and I think that’s the best way to do it.”
“Love is more effective than fear. For love, a person can even fight death. I have received a report from the shadows, it seems King Venobich is preparing for war.”
“Do you think he’s going to break your treaty?”
“I don’t know, I just know that she could mean our victory or our defeat if the war starts again.”
“I just hope King Venobich doesn’t start another war before the princess learns to handle her powers. If not, that would be a real problem.”
“I know, that’s why I want her to recover quickly so she can continue learning, so that she can control her powers.”

“By the way, do you know how to make the princess fall in love with you yet?”
What?”
“Don’t tell me you don’t have a plan.”
“Well, I haven’t thought about it yet.”
“I advise you to start thinking about it. For a woman to fall in love with a man, she needs to feel special to him. You must show your feelings for her. Well, in your case, there are no feelings, so you’ll have to try even harder.”
Alessandro wasn’t very good with women, since from a young age it had always been women who made the effort to please him. He had never had to please any woman. In reality, he didn’t know what to do to make the princess fall in love with him, but he didn’t want to admit that to Sirius.
