Alfonso clenched his hands into fists, he was furious, but he had to control his anger and bow his head.

He bowed and said:

“I appreciate Your Majesty’s kindness. I regret having interrupted you. I will no longer take up your time, I will take my leave.”

Before Alfonso could leave, Alessandro warned him:

“Duke, I hope you keep your daughter under control. Although she was once my betrothed, Abril is my wife and my queen. I will consider an offense against her as an offense against myself, and you know the price to pay for treason.”

After Alfonso left the office, Gabriel said:

Alfonso left the king’s office in a fury. He was so upset that he would have destroyed everything in his path if he weren’t still in the royal palace. Blinded by anger, he didn’t realize he had wandered off the path. He was about to turn back when he suddenly saw the princess of the kingdom of Laios. Upon seeing her, he felt as if something inside him was screaming for him to flee. Since he didn’t have time to do so, he hid

behind a pillar covered with vines that kept him concealed.

When she passed by, his whole body trembled, and he nearly collapsed.

As Abril walked down the hallway, she stopped for a moment, feeling as if her light magic was reacting to danger. She looked left and right, but in the hallway, there was only the maid accompanying her. She thought it might be her imagination playing tricks on her and continued on her way.

Alfonso didn’t come out of his hiding place until Abril, disappeared around a corner. Although she had moved away, he continued to feel unwell and hurried to reach his carriage waiting for him at the entrance.

As he entered his carriage, one of the servants accompanying him noticed his sweat and trembling and

asked:

“Duke, are you alright?”

“Get me out of here.”

When he reached his mansion and got out of the carriage, Victoria approached him. She had been waiting,

wanting to know how things went, if the restriction placed on her entering the palace had been revoked.

“Father, how did it go? Did Alessandro revoke my punishment? Will I be able to attend the ball that will be

held in a few days?”

Alfonso felt his head buzzing, he shouted at her angrily:

“Shut up, I’m not feeling well.”

“Do you want me to call a doctor?”

“No, I just want to be left alone, let no one dare interrupt me, or I’ll slit their throat.”

Victoria was very surprised as her father had always been very accommodating and kind to her. He had

never yelled at her before, no matter what trouble she got into, he never raised his voice.

Alfonso stumbled to his office, and upon crossing the threshold, he slammed the door shut. Alone in his

office, a shadow as thick as ink emerged from within him. That shadow writhed as if something hurt it. Alfonso didn’t understand what was happening. Suddenly, a door appeared out of nowhere in a wall, and from it came a young man of about 18. He looked disdainfully at the shadow writhing at his feet and spoke with an impassive expression. The face of that handsome boy with reddish hair was an indecipherable mask. When he finally spoke, his voice was cold as ice, making Alfonso tremble. “What is this? What have you done to the darkness?”

Alfonso bowed his head to the ground and responded with a trembling voice.

“I haven’t done anything, Your Majesty, Prince Enzo. I just went to the palace, and when Princess Abril passed by me, the darkness inside me shuddered, as if it was afraid of her.”

“Why would the darkness tremble at the sight of that worthless woman?”

“I don’t know, Your Majesty.”

Enzo took a small bottle and sealed the darkness inside, put it in his bag, and tossed him another small vial containing black stones.

“I’m giving you this, but make sure it doesn’t happen again. My father will not be pleased if this happens a second time.”

Alfonso took the small black stones from the vial and squeezed them tightly. A thick darkness emerged from them, enveloping him completely. Alfonso felt renewed, all his pain seemed to vanish completely. He bowed to Enzo and said,

“Ensure this doesn’t happen again, or you’ll pay dearly for it.”
