Cassian could see the green grass through the cave’s exit. He reached out for Maya’s hand, catching her as she emerged from the cave. The light blinded Maya, and when her eyes adjusted to it, she was astonished. In front of her was a beautiful clearing where the sky seemed bluer, and the grass beneath her
feet was soft, lovely, and lime–green in color. In the distance, she could see a dense forest; the trees had different colors; they were bright and vibrant. Her father had told her stories about fairyland, but what she saw far exceeded his tales. She moved away from Cassian and walked towards a small lilac bush. She was going to touch its leaves since the unusual color had caught her attention, but Ethan stopped her.
“Don’t touch it, even though it looks beautiful, it can be dangerous. The land of the fairies is a place full of beauty, but it is more dangerous than the human world.”
“Is it poisonous?” Asked Maya while pointing at the bush.
“Yes, so even if the beauty of its leaves attracts you, don’t touch it.”
“Alright.”
Ethan started walking away, saying,
“Let’s go, we must reach the fairy kingdom before nightfall.”
“Aren’t we in the fairy kingdom?”
“We are at the entrance. To reach the fairy kingdom, we must walk a bit further. Don’t get distracted and
don’t drink anything they give you, or you might not return.”
“Why didn’t you tell us that before coming?”
“I’m telling you now.”
Ethan and Dantriel walked quickly. Cassian and Maya followed them, looking at everything with great
amazement. Maya wanted to get close and touch everything she saw, but she wasn’t foolish enough to
risk her life out of curiosity. They continued walking for a couple more hours. Maya saw curious eyes
watching her from the bushes, and she asked,
“Do those bushes have eyes?”
Ethan directed his gaze towards where Maya was pointing and replied,
“No, those are dryads, a type of tree spirit or fairy.”
“They’re watching us.”
“Yes, the fairy queen must already know we’re here, so let’s go.”
They climbed the hill to its flat, grassy top, which offered a view of the fairy kingdom. A tall, large marble building rose magnificently among small colorful houses. It was a breathtaking sight, full of vibrant,
colorful flowers.

“This is beautiful,” said Maya with great admiration.
Ethan responded.

“I’ve already told you, don’t be swayed by what you see. Try not to separate, and remember, don’t eat or
drink anything that we don’t eat or drink.”
Cassian and Maya nodded simultaneously and followed them. As they walked through the city, the fairies
dressed in beautiful linen garments, with flowers adorning their heads, stared at them and whispered.
Maya felt like everyone was staring at her.
“I don’t know if it’s my imagination or if everyone is looking at me.”
Cassian had noticed the same thing, he replied.
“Yes, it seems like they can’t take their eyes off you.”
Ethan and Dantriel made no comment. They just told them to hurry up and not to stop. They continued
walking until they reached the marble palace they had seen from the hill. At the door, stood two tall
guards, with pointed ears and blue skin, wearing a leather belt in which they carried a small ivory dagger.
They held a wooden spear, the tip was ivory like their dagger; Maya wondered why their weapons were
made of ivory instead of iron, but facing the guards, she didn’t ask, just listened to Ethan and Dantriel.
“We have come to see the queen, take us to her, tell her the emissaries of the elves are here.”
The two guards must have recognized them because they let them pass. As they crossed the doors, a
young fairy, short in stature with smoky hair and gray eyes, greeted them.
“Hello, I’m Narim. Follow me, I’ll guide you to where the queen is.”
The young fairy walked in front of them, guiding them to a spacious room with a glass dome that let the
sun pour in. The place was decorated with vines and beautiful flowers.
“The queen will arrive shortly.”
As Narim had promised, a few minutes later, a beautiful woman appeared, wearing a golden dress, with a
beautiful and ethereal face. It was difficult to decipher her age because when they looked at her closely,
her face seemed young and at the same time older. She fixed her gaze on Maya, and as she looked at her,
she said.
“To what do I owe the illustrious visit of the emissaries of the elves?”
Ethan made a bow as a sign of respect and replied.
“I apologize for interrupting your majesty’s activities and taking your time. I am here because our queen has asked us to deliver a message to you.”
