Blood Bonds
Cira kept breaking things, apparently finding satisfaction in it. Enzo remained very still, observing every movement his sister made, and finally said,
“Cira, what are you planning to do?”
“I have many plans. Which one are you interested in? The ones I have with you or the ones I have with that
witch Abril?”
“I’m curious about both,“Enzo replied, scared of what his sister might say.
“Well, with you, I’ll be merciful. I’ll let you live as long as you’re useful to me, so if you want to keep breathing, you’d better not get in my way.”
“And with Abril?”
Cira threw a vase to the floor, which shattered into thousands of pieces, and replied,
“For her, my plans align with father’s.”
“What?”
“I suppose father didn’t tell you, since he doesn’t think it’s worth mentioning. He wants her dead, says she’s dangerous.”
Cira laughed and said,
“That seems ridiculous to me. What could that witch do against us? She’s a powerless fool without magic.”
Enzo had always been the most sensitive to magic in his family. On several occasions, he felt that Abril possessed a certain magic, although it was too weak for anyone else to notice. But he had never told anyone because if his father had known that Abril possessed magic, no matter how small the amount, he would have made her his successor, so he had kept it a secret.
“What if she’s not useless? What if she also has magic?”
“It doesn’t matter, whether she has magic or not, I’ll kill her, but not before destroying everything she has.”
Cira felt as if someone was watching her. She looked in the direction where Abril was with her mother in a corner of the room. Cira smiled maliciously and said,
“I guess I won’t have to wait long to destroy that witch.”
Cira walked towards the corner where Abril was. Cira formed a ball of black fire in her right hand. Sophia took Abril’s hand, and when Cira threw the ball of fire at them, they disappeared; in an instant, they found themselves in another place, which seemed to be the top of a tower. From that place, Abril saw something that terrified her: thousands of monsters were filling the training fields, and in the midst of them, she saw her father. Sophia said to her,
< Blood Bands
“My dear, as you can see, the war is at the doorstep, and it seems Vritra suspects your powers. I don’t
think it will take long for him to attack us, so you must be prepared, Abril, because without you, this war cannot be won.”
Abril looked once more at that training field full of monsters. The sight seemed like a nightmare to her, and fear overwhelmed her. Sophia took her hand and said,
“Don’t be afraid, you are very powerful, my dear,”
“What if I’m not as powerful as you think? What if I can’t fight when the time comes?”
“Abril, not only does my blood run through your veins, but you also possess Vritra’s blood. Proof of this is
your reddish hair, but you didn’t just inherit the color of his hair, you also inherited his magic. Like him, you
have fire magic, although it hasn’t awakened yet, but I’m sure that when the time comes, it will awaken,
and no one will be able to stand against you. Darkness won’t be able to stand against you, just never forget
who you are.”
Vritra felt as if someone was watching him. He looked around until he found the person who was stalking
him. That gaze came from the top of one of the palace towers, although there seemed to be no one in
sight. He felt the presence of a person and used his dark magic to propel himself to the top of the tower.
When Abril saw her father, she was startled. Her father stood in front of them with a fierce look and said,
“Who are you? Show yourself immediately.”
Sophia stared at Vritra. Although many years had passed and his face was marked with some wrinkles
and his reddish hair had a few white strands, for a moment, she seemed to see the young boy she had
fallen madly in love with.
She had loved him with all her heart, and deep down, she still loved him. He walked towards them, a red
flame appearing in his hand, and said,
“I suppose I’ll have to force you to come out.”
That flame of fire grew larger, spreading throughout the tower. Abril was terrified, even though her physical
body wasn’t in that place, she could feel the suffocating heat of the flames, the smell of smoke entering
her lungs, making it hard to breathe. Sophia reacted, wrapping her arms around her daughter and said,
“Forgive me.”
After her mother said that, Abril woke up trembling with fear. She was sweating and breathing heavily, her
body hot as if she had been near flames, some parts even burning as if she had been burned. She tried to get up and go to the bathroom, seeking relief from water, but then the door opened. It was Alessandro. Seeing her red, sweaty skin and her struggle to breathe, he rushed to her side, took her by the shoulders, and asked, terror in his eyes at her suffering.
“Aby, who did this to you?”
Abril found it difficult to speak as she felt she couldn’t breathe. With great difficulty, she asked him to take

her to the bathroom. Alessandro did as she asked, took her to the bathroom, and put her in the bathtub,
which was half–filled. The water was cold, which gave Abril relief.
Alessandro stayed by her side, holding her hand until she calmed down, and her breathing returned to
normal.
“Are you feeling better?”
“Yes.”
“What happened to you? Did someone attack you?”
“It’s really not what you think, no one attacked me.”
“Your skin is red, and just a moment ago, you couldn’t breathe. Do you really expect me to believe no one
attacked you?”
“It’s the truth. I’ve been in this room the whole time, and no one has entered.”
Alessandro took Abril’s face in his hands and said,
“I won’t believe that. Tell me who did it, or else I won’t leave a stone unturned until I find the one who dared to lay a hand on you. I’ll make them pay with their lives.”

Abril placed her hand over Alessandro’s to calm his anger, as he seemed ready to kill anyone who stood in
his way.
“Lessan, please calm down.”
Alessandro pressed his forehead against Abril’s and spoke softly but fiercely.
“How can I calm down after seeing that you’ve been hurt? Tell me who hurt you.”
Abril hesitated for a moment before telling him what had happened, but she knew it was best to tell him the truth; otherwise, Alessandro might cause a big scandal, and he wouldn’t stop until he found out what had happened.
“All right, I’ll tell you what happened to me, but please don’t get upset.”
Abril told him everything that had happened without holding anything back. Alessandro listened in silence until she finished speaking; although he hadn’t said a single word, his face betrayed his feelings and
thoughts at that moment. “I will kill Vritra Venobich.”
Abril saw the contained rage in Alessandro’s eyes, she gave him a soft, sweet kiss, then another, and
another until she saw that all that contained anger was slowly disappearing with each kiss she gave him.
She caressed his cheek and said while looking directly into his eyes.
“Lessan, I’ll be fine, it wasn’t anything serious.”
“No matter how small the harm you receive, I hate that you’re hurt, Aby, and I hate myself for not being able to protect you even when I said I would.”
Abril squeezed Alessandro’s hand and said,
“Lessan, you already do, you take good care of me.”
“It’s not like that. If I were doing it well, you wouldn’t be like this right now.”
Abril began to feel cold after her skin cooled. She stood up, and Alessandro helped her remove the damp
clothes that had stuck to her body. He looked closely at her naked body for a moment and saw red marks
on her pale skin as if she had been exposed to the sun for too long. He took a robe and put it on her very
carefully not to hurt her, then he took her in his arms and carried her to the room, gently laid her on the
bed and said.
“It would be better to call a doctor.”
“I don’t think it’s necessary, I’m fine.”
“Even so, I want to do it. I’ll feel better if a doctor checks you. It’s the only thing I can do for you at this
moment.”
Abril knew that Alessandro felt guilty and, no matter what she said, he would continue to blame himself

for not having protected her.
“If that makes you feel more at ease, it’s no problem for me.”
Alessandro headed to the door. Abril felt afraid, she didn’t want to be left alone, but if she told Alessandro, he wouldn’t leave her alone at any moment, so she just said.
“Don’t take long, please.”
“I won’t, I’ll be right back.”
When Alessandro left the room, he looked for one of the servants and asked him to call the doctor and send him to their room. He also sent a message to the tower of mages for Sirius to see him early in the morning, then he returned to the room to be with Abril. When she saw him, she showed an expression of
relief on her face.
“Sorry for taking so long.”
