Forgotten Wife Let the traitors kneel Down (by Patricia Maradiaga) novel Chapter 387

Duke Vampel’s true purpose was never to persuade His Majesty to accept his daughter as a second wife; it was merely a pretext to enter the king’s office and plant a seed of darkness, as he had been instructed.

As he left the office, Gabriel thought he saw the duke smiling. He entered the office shortly after and

asked,

What did the duke want?

He wanted me to lift the ban on his daughter entering the palace, but I told him I would never allow that

woman to set foot in this palace again; she dared to harm Abril, and I will never forgive her for that.

If he didn’t get what he wanted, why did he look so pleased?

Gabriel wondered aloud.

Pleased?

Yes, I thought I saw him smiling.

You must have been mistaken.

Alessandro stood up.

I’m taking the rest of the day off. You handle the paperwork.

Gabriel, seeing the mountain of papers on the king’s desk, asked,

Do I have to handle all of that?

Yes, any objections?

Would it matter if I said yes?

No, you’ll still have to handle the paperwork.

Alessandro headed towards the door and, before leaving, said,

Make sure you finish all of that today.”

< She is and Always Will Be My Only Wife

What?

Alessandro didn’t respond; he left the room, and Gabriel, seeing the mountain of papers on the desk,

cursed the king, knowing that with all that work he would have to stay working all night.

Damn tyrant, acting like he’s the only one with a family.

He shouted as he sat in the king’s chair, tears in his eyes, staring at that mountain of papers. It would be

another night he couldn’t go home to his family.

Don’t Send Me Away

Every time Abril saw Duke Vampel, she didn’t know if it was because of the strange way he looked at her or because of the great resemblance he had with his daughter, which brought back bad memories. But she felt a shiver every time she saw him; as she walked away, Abril heard her mother’s voice in her head.

Abril, there is a seed of darkness threatening the palace.

What?

Retrace your steps, use your power to find it.

Abril tried to feel her power, but there was nothing in her; sometimes it was as if her magic wasn’t there,

and it was very hard for her to feel it.

But how do I do it?

Aby, so far you’ve only used your magic unconsciously because you haven’t broken all the seals within you

yet. Remove your limiters and concentrate, visualize your power flowing within you.

Abril removed the earrings that served as limiters, closed her eyes, and did what her mother told her until

she could feel the flow of her magic. It was as if a lightning bolt suddenly struck her and left her full of

power; she could feel something evil, the same sensation she had felt when those monsters born of

darkness had attacked the palace. She ran, fearing that Alessandro’s life was in danger. As she ran through

the corridors, she encountered Alessandro, who, seeing her so agitated, asked her.

What’s wrong, Aby? Why are you running like that?

Abril touched Alessandro’s face, and she sighed in relief at not feeling anything dark inside him.

Thank goodness you’re okay.”

Alessandro took her by the shoulders and asked again.

What’s wrong, Aby?

Apparently, there’s a seed of darkness in the palace.

Abril pointed to Alessandro’s office and said,

It seems to be coming from there.

Just at that moment, Alessandro heard a scream coming from his office; it was Gabriel, who seemed to

be in danger.

The guards stationed at the doors drew their swords and rushed in, Alessandro and Abril following shortly after. There was a horrible slimy monster that looked like it came out of the worst nightmare in the office; the guards attacked it, but it was useless. Their weapons could do nothing against that creature. Abril began to attack the monster using her light magic, and the creature retreated, very frightened by the power of the light.

Alessandro tried to use his magic, wanting to help Abril in defeating that creature, but he couldn’t do it; the pressure of Abril’s magic was such that it completely nullified his magic. He hated being so useless, in the end, she defeated the creature without anyone’s help.

The monster lay on the ground like a black puddle, with a strong and putrid smell. Everyone stood watching her; she approached Gabriel, placed her hand on his shoulder, and used her magic to heal an ugly wound on his forehead. The wound closed and healed instantly. Then she turned to the two guards

and asked them.

Are you okay?

Both nodded.

Alessandro took Abril’s hand and said,

Let’s go.”

Before leaving the room, Alessandro told Gabriel.

Move my office to another room and make sure no one else knows what happened here.”

Gabriel was still shocked by the monster’s attack; he responded distractedly.

I will, Your Majesty.

Alessandro led Abril by the hand through the palace corridors, out to one of the gardens, and didn’t stop until they were far enough from that place. He pulled her into a tight embrace. He felt completely useless; he was supposed to be the one protecting her, but until that moment, it was she who had been protecting

him. He had only been a burden.

I’m sorry, please forgive me for not being able to protect you as I promised. Right now, the palace is not a safe place; there are too many dangers lurking around every corner. It would be best if you went

somewhere else.

Lessan, I understand that you want to protect me, but understand that I also want to do the same for you. I want to protect you from all danger, so don’t send me away from your side.

Alessandro took Abril’s face in his hands, looked directly into her eyes, and said,

I don’t want to be far from you either. For me, you will always come first, which is why I want you to be in a

safe place, even if that place isn’t with me. You’ll go with Sirius to the wizard’s tower tomorrow morning.

Why do you decide everything without considering what I want?

Abril started giving Alessandro small taps on the chest and said,

Why can’t you see that I don’t want to be apart from you?

Aby, I understand you perfectly, but also understand that I’m afraid of losing you if you stay in the palace. You still don’t know how to control your magic; you need someone to teach you, and that someone isn’t

me.
