Sirius stared at those silver flames and approached to see them better. He was surprised to find that the flames weren’t hot; he touched them and didn’t get burned.
“What kind of flames are these? I’ve never seen them before.”
“I just tried to do what Liam did, but I guess it didn’t work.”
“Wait, what were the words you said?”
“Purifying fire, may your flames cleanse and restore the body. Wait, I think it was destroyl got confused.”
Sirius put his hands into the fire, but once again, those silver flames did nothing to him.
“I guess I failed.”
“I don’t think so, but I didn’t know you could use fire magic.”
“I just did what you told me.”
“I don’t know if I explained it to you, but wizards and magic bearers are not the same. Wizards can use all types of magic, but magic bearers have only one magical attribute: earth, water, air or fire. Even with enchantments, they can’t change their attributes or use other types of magic. But you’re an exception. I don’t know if it’s because you’re a half–elf or because you’ve also inherited your father’s abilities. I
understand that all members of the Venobich family use fire magic.”
“It’s true, everyone in my family uses fire magic. From what I read in one of the kingdom of Laios’s history books, that’s something that characterizes the Venobich royal family.”
Abril touched her hair and said,
“Just like our red hair.”
“This makes me wonder what the limit of your magic will be, especially since you haven’t fully awakened
your power yet.”
“Well, I’m also a bit curious about that. I wonder how strong I’ll become and how much I can truly
contribute to this war.”
Abril looked at her hands and said,
“I wonder if, with this power, I can protect Alessandro. Although, if possible, I wouldn’t want to break the last seal. I don’t want to lose the part of my mother that’s inside me.”
“I’ll help you manage your magic as best as I can so you don’t have to break the last seal.”
“Thank you, Sirius.”
“I haven’t done anything yet, and I can’t assure you that you won’t have to break that last seal.”
“I know, but your intentions mean a lot to me, so thank you.”

After that day, Abril continued studying hard to control her magic. After two months, she memorized all
the magic books in the tower and learned to control her magic perfectly. She was at the tower’s door
waiting for the response to the letter she had sent to Alessandro, Sirius approached her and asked,
“What are you doing here?”
“I sent a letter to Lessan, I’m waiting for his response.”
“You always exchange letters, but why do you seem so anxious today?”
“I asked if I could go back to the palace. I’ve learned to control my magic, so there’s nothing left for me to
do here.”
Abril saw the messenger arrive. She ran to meet him, eager to quickly read Alessandro’s response.
“Where’s my letter?”
“I’m sorry, Miss Amara, I don’t have any letters for you today.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“Check again, there must be a letter for me.”
The postman checked his bag and said,
“I’m sorry, Miss Amara, but I really don’t have any letters for you. I only have a letter for the tower’s owner.”
Sirius approached and took the letter the postman was carrying. Abril saw the seal of the Veriatte royal family on the envelope and asked,
“Why has Lessan sent you a letter and not me?”
Sirius put the letter in the pocket of his cloak and said,
“I think you’re mistaken, this letter wasn’t sent by him.”
Sirius began to walk away, but Abril followed him.
“I’ve seen the seal on the letter, I’m sure it’s from Lessan.”
“It’s not from him.”
“Then why did you hide the letter?”
“I didn’t hide it, I just put it away.”
“Then show me what the letter says.”
“I can’t do that, it’s confidential.”
“You know who I am. If it’s a state secret, I can read it.”
“I’m sorry, but I can’t reveal the letter’s contents to you.”

Abril had a slight suspicion of why Sirius didn’t want to show her that letter and why Alessandro hadn’t responded to her letter.
“He doesn’t want me to return, does he? That’s why he hasn’t replied to my letter, he’s probably forgotten about me.”
“I don’t think that’s the case, he loves you madly, I can assure you.”
“Then, why hasn’t he come to find me?”
“He wants you to be prepared.”
“I’ve prepared enough, I’ve memorized every magic book in this tower and learned to control my magic.”
Sirius had no way to refute Abril’s words; she was a true genius, memorizing books just by reading them
once. What took others years to master, Abril accomplished in two months.
“Perhaps it’s still not enough. You’ve only been in the tower for two months, there are still many things you
need to improve, like self–defense, for example.”
“What?”
“Yes, I think you should learn to defend yourself. Remember the war will start soon.”
“Doesn’t learning to control my magic count for anything?”
“No, since that would only be useful against monsters, but is useless against humans.”
It’s not completely useless‘
“Your magic only heals or nullifies other spells; you can’t defend yourself with it.”
“I suppose you’re right, but I really miss him. I thought I could finally see him again.”
After saying that, Abril started to walk away, and as she did, she wondered if Lessan missed her the same way she missed him or if being apart for so long meant nothing. That day, she returned to her room and cried for a long time, wondering if she would ever see him again or if she was destined to become a forgotten wife once more.
Clutching her pillow, she whispered through her tears.
“Lessan, please, come find me.”

Letter to My Beloved
Sirius opened the letter after entering his office. It was short and precise.
Take care of my wife. Don’t let her return to the palace. It’s not a safe place.
P.S. Come to the palace when you can.
After reading the letter, Sirius wondered what exactly was happening in the royal palace. Ever since Abril had left the palace, several rumors about the royal marriage had begun to circulate. Many claimed that their marriage had ended due to the threats of war from the kingdom of Laios and that was why the king
had sent his wife back.
Sirius didn’t understand what Alessandro was thinking. He had told him that she would return when she mastered her magic, and she had already done so, but he kept asking to keep her in the tower. However, Sirius knew he couldn’t do that forever; Abril was starting to grow impatient, and he no longer knew what
to do to keep her there. In the end, he had said the first thing that came to his mind.
“And now what will I do with her? That foolish king, when does he plan to take his wife back?”
Sirius felt his head heavy, overwhelmed with work due to the persistent attacks on the magical barriers that protected the kingdom. He had so much work that the shadows under his eyes had become even more pronounced. He wondered how much longer the king would exploit him, as he doubted he would live long if this continued. He sighed heavily and wondered.
“When will all this madness end? When will the day come when I can rest?”
The next day, Sirius headed to the royal palace very early in the morning. When he arrived, he went directly
to Alessandro’s office, and Gabriel let him in immediately upon seeing him.
Alessandro was sitting behind his desk with a tired look and dark shadows under his eyes, looking
extremely worn out.
“Greetings, Your Majesty.”
‘I’m glad you could come so soon. Have a seat.”
Sirius did as he was asked and inquired.
“How is everything going?”
“Not very well, my work only increases with each passing day, but that’s not why I called you.”
“Is it about your wife?”
“How is she?”
“Fine, but very upset since she didn’t receive a response to the letter she wrote.”
“How upset was she?”

“Enough to say that you had forgotten about her.”
Alessandro sighed heavily, ran his hand through his hair, and said,
“I hate not being able to be with her, but I don’t want to put her life in danger.”

“She has worked hard during the last two months. I can attest that her mastery of magic is excellent. Don’t
you think she should be allowed to return?”
“Not yet.”
“You know that if you don’t explain this situation properly, it could create a misunderstanding, right?”
“I know, but I don’t know how to respond because no matter how sweet the words I write to tell her she
can’t return yet, I know they will all break her heart.”
“You’re right, but ignoring the letter is not a good idea. As I said before, your wife might misinterpret your
