Forgotten Wife Let the traitors kneel Down (by Patricia Maradiaga) novel Chapter 394

Abril felt a bit of pity. She knew all those words and concern weren’t directed at her but at her mother. She

placed her hand over Ethan’s and said,

I appreciate your concern, but I can’t leave.

But

Don’t try to convince me to go, because I won’t. That’s the decision I’ve made. I know when you see me,

you see my mother, but remember I’m not her.

This place is too dangerous, don’t you see?

Of course I see, but everything I care about, everything I love is here. That’s why I can’t leave, even if it

Melding on to Life

means risking my life, I’ll fight for them.

Ethan released Abril, lowered his gaze, and then clenched his hands tightly. He couldn’t deny that what Abril had said was true; every time he saw her, he saw Sophia and couldn’t help but worry about her.

Take care, and don’t make any mistakes.

Ethan said, then left.

Lionel, one of the tower’s mages, approached Abril and said,

Amara, where have you been? I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”

Is something up?

It’s the wounded, we need help.”

Let’s go.

Abril glanced in the direction Ethan had gone, but he was already gone. Lionel led her to a tent where

there were soldiers with severe wounds and injuries. Upon seeing their condition, Abril asked,

I thought I treated the seriously wounded yesterday?

These soldiers were treated yesterday by the doctors and the other mages. However, their wounds are so

critical that they were discarded. Usually, they attend to the wounded who have a chance of surviving;

these are separated. Most die, and only a few survive such wounds. I suppose they are destined to die.

Abril felt disgusted; the situation brought back bitter memories. In the past, she had been in a similar

situation, yet she had never given up; she had clung to life, just like many of those soldiers who fought

with all their might to survive. She rolled up the sleeves of her tunic and said,

Never say they’re destined to die again. Can’t you see they’re fighting with all they’ve got, even if

everything’s against them? Don’t discard anyone; no one has the right to decide who lives and who dies.

Abril approached the soldier who seemed the most critical. He had an ugly wound on his arm, almost severed, Lionel said.

We must amputate the arm. There is no mage or doctor who can heal such a wound.

Bring me bandages, maybe it’s not too late to save his arm.

Amara, you are not a god, we are mages, there are things we cannot do, no matter how much we wish to.

I know, but let me try.

Lionel scratched his head and said to her, Alright. Anyway, his condition is critical. If he survives it, that

will be a miracle.

Lionel went to fetch bandages.

Here you go.

Help me set his arm.

That will hurt him.

I know, but it’s necessary.

Lionel set his arm, and the soldier let out a heartwrenching scream; the pain was so great that he fainted. Abril used the bandages to keep his arm together, then asked Lionel to get more bandages as the ones

they had were scarce.

I’ll be right back.

When Lionel left, Abril infused her healing magic into the man and gradually saw how the color returned and the expression on his face became more peaceful.

You’re going to recover.

She whispered in his ear, even though he could no longer hear her because he was still unconscious.

Abril continued healing the other soldiers, all of whom had ugly wounds who were dying, and if she hadn’t helped them, they surely would have ended up dead. When Lionel returned, he brought two more mages, who helped change the bloody bandages and set the nearly severed limbs of the soldiers at Abril’s

request; it seemed pointless to them, yet none said anything.

In the distance, an explosion was heard, and Abril was surprised and asked, What was that?

It’s the battle, it must have started already. They use magical stones that explode to drive the monsters

away from the barrier and allow them to exit without letting them in.

Does that kill them?

Not at all, but it makes them fly far away for a few minutes, allowing them to exit.

Still, there’s nothing I can do to make her leave. Abril is aware of what you’re saying, she’s aware of the danger she’s facing here, but as I said before, she won’t leave, no matter what we say, that’s her decision,

Her decisions are foolish and reckless. She’s a spoiled girl who knows nothing about the world.”

Cassian felt a bit upset by Ethan’s words and replied.

You know nothing about her, so don’t speak.

You’re not going to do anything to make her leave? I thought you were her friend.”

And I am, that’s why I won’t do what you’re asking. I’ll respect the decision she’s made.

Even if that puts her in danger?

If that happens, I’ll be there to help her.”

You’re just as foolish as your brother.

Said Ethan as he headed for the exit. Once he was alone, Cassian wondered if supporting Abril was the right decision or if he should do what Ethan had told him and try to convince her to leave the camp for a safe place. But he wanted to respect her decision and support her; at that moment, he found himself in a dilemma, but deep down he knew that even if he tried, he couldn’t convince her to leave. Abril was very stubborn and wouldn’t back down once she made a decision.

Someone entered the tent, and Cassian thought it was Ethan returning to try to convince him to cooperate, but it wasn’t him. When he saw who it was, he wondered if it was a hallucination, if he was starting to hallucinate from exhaustion. The person who had just entered the tent was Maya.

He gawked at her like a fool; she looked beautiful, wearing a simple beige straightcut dress, her black hair cascading down her sides like a silky waterfall. She brushed a strand of hair from her face, tucked it

behind her ear, and said.

Aren’t you going to say anything?

Cassian approached her and caressed her cheek, wanting to confirm she was real.

Are you really here?

Yes, it’s been a long time, how have you been?

How?

How am I here?

Yes.

It’s a long story.

Sirius then approached the barrier, placed his hand on it, and a light shone, reinforcing it. As he passed by

her, he said to her.

Think about what I told you.

Abril returned to the tent where the wounded were, and the magicians there looked surprised.

Did something happen?

All the wounded seem to have improved. What did you do?

Nothing special, I just used healing magic and treated their wounds just like you did.

Are you sure?

Yes, and now let’s stop chatting; there’s a lot to do.

The battle lasted all day, and at dusk, the sound of a horn was heard, signaling the soldiersreturn. Some magicians hurried to the barrier and cleared the entrance for the soldiers. Abril ran over, her eyes anxiously searching for Alessandro, and when she saw him, she felt she could breathe again. Though he appeared tired, and his armor was stained with a black liquid, he didn’t seem injured.

Lionel grabbed Abril, stopping her from going to Alessandro.

Amara, what are you doing? There are many wounded. Don’t get distracted.

Yes, I’m sorry.

That day, she spent the whole night treating the wounded and couldn’t see Alessandro. She had gone to fetch water from a nearby well, lamenting that she hadn’t been able to see her husband, even though they were in the same place. Suddenly, she heard Alessandro’s voice behind her.

Aby.

She turned immediately, a smile forming on her face.

Lessan.

He approached, noticing the dark shadows under her eyes, and asked.

Haven’t you slept?

There were too many wounded.

Don’t overexert yourself.”

Don’t worry, I’ll rest soon.

Alessandro was wearing his armor, and Abril placed her hand on it and said.
