When they arrived at the lake, Abril’s eyes sparkled with excitement. It was the first time she had ever seen a lake, and it was beautiful. Alessandro asked her, Do you like it?

I love it. I’ve never seen anything so beautiful,” Abril replied, looking like a child filled with excitement. This reminded Alessandro of the past, the first time his parents had taken him to the lake. He had been just as excited as she was. Alessandro took her hand and said, “The boat is over there. Let’s go.”

At the edge of the lake, on a small pier, there was a beautiful boat decorated with curtains to shield them from the sun and with comfortable seats to enjoy the ride. Abril looked at everything with great excitement and wonder, a big smile spreading across her face. It was the first time Alessandro had seen her so happy by his side.

They boarded the boat, and as they did, Abril felt it sway. Alessandro held her by the waist and said, Be careful.” He helped her sit down, and the boat set off shortly after. Abril asked, How does the boat move?

With my magic,” Alessandro replied.

Abril moved to the edge of the boat and, looking at the sky reflected in the water like a great mirror, she said, It’s incredible. Thank you for showing me something so wonderful.

We can come often if you like,” Alessandro offered.

I would love that,Abril responded.

When the boat reached the center of the lake, Abril saw beautiful white flowers floating on the water. She was amazed. Alessandro picked one of the flowers from the lake, dried it with his magic, and handed it to Abril. This is for you since you seem to like them so much.

Abril took the flower. Up close, it was even more beautiful. The white petals seemed to shine with the reflection of the sun. She caressed them with her fingertips and said, It’s beautiful.

Alessandro thought she was even more beautiful than the flower, with her reddish hair cascading over her shoulders, contrasting with her pale skin, her red lips like two rose petals, and that smile that made everything shine with a magical light. Without realizing it, the words escaped Alessandro’s mouth, You are much more beautiful than that flower.

Abril blushed. She was not used to receiving compliments; in fact, she didn’t even consider herself beautiful since no one had ever told her. Alessandro stood up, and the boat wobbled a bit. Abril was afraid the boat would capsize. When Alessandro sat down next to her, she hugged him, clinging to him.

It’s unusual for you to want to hug me,Alessandro said.

This won’t tip over, right? I can’t swim,” Abril confessed.

“Don’t worry, that won’t happen. And if it did, I would rescue you,” Alessandro reassured her.

I’d prefer it not to happen,Abril said.

Alessandro took her chin so she would look at him, gave her a soft kiss on the lips, and said, You don’t have to be afraid. I will protect you.

Cassian returned to his room and finished reading the book. Afterward, he decided to go to the city to thank Laila for recommending such a good book. However, he didn’t want to be accompanied by his guards, so he dressed in simple clothes and sneaked out of the palace as he used to in the past. When he arrived in the city, he went to the bookstore. Laila was arranging some books on a shelf. When she saw Cassian enter, she smiled and said, Hello, I’m glad you came back.

The book you recommended was very good,” Cassian said.

Have you already finished reading it?Laila asked.

Yes, it was so good that I couldn’t stop reading it,Cassian replied.

That’s great! Have you come to find another book or to ask me out on a date?Laila asked.

Cassian blushed. He had only come to thank her. I just wanted to thank you for recommending such a good book and would like you to recommend another one.

Laila moved among the shelves, took a book, and handed it to Cassian. You’ll like this one,

it’s very good.”

Thank you,” Cassian said.

But you still owe me a date. You promised to take me out if you came back. Do you remember?Laila said.

I don’t remember promising that,Cassian replied.

It doesn’t matter, I remember. So, where do you plan to take me?Laila asked.

I don’t…” Cassian began to say.

If you don’t know where to take me, I’ll choose,Laila said.

Laila called her grandfather, who was behind the shop, and told him she was going out for a while. Then she took Cassian’s hand and said, Let’s go.

I haven’t paid for the book yet,Cassian said.

You can pay me the next time you come back,” Laila replied.

Laila dragged Cassian out of the shop. Once they were on the street, he said, I don’t like crowds much, and I can’t walk

very far.

Don’t worry, I know a good place nearby that’s quiet. Let’s go,” Laila said.

Laila took him to a café. It was a simple place that sold cakes and sweets. She said, They sell delicious desserts here. Do you like sweet things?

Yes,” Cassian replied.

Laila found an empty table near the window. She led Cassian there, still holding his hand. They both sat down, and a young woman with brown hair greeted them.

Hello, Laila. Who’s your friend?the young woman asked.

Hello, Dina. His name is Cassian. We’re on a date,” Laila replied honestly.

Cassian blushed. Dina thought it was adorable and said, Cassian, take good care of my friend. She can be a bit scatterbrained, but she’s a good girl.”

Cassian didn’t know what to say and remained silent. After Dina took their order and left,

Cassian said, “We’re not on a date.”

Of course we are,” Laila responded with a big smile on her face.

Dina returned with two slices of apple pie and lemonade. Laila took a bite of the pie and said, It’s delicious. You have to try it.

Cassian took a bite of the pie. It was very good. It’s delicious,he said.

I’m glad you liked it,” Laila said.

Why did you bring me here?” Cassian asked.

Because it’s close to the bookstore, and I love the pie here. My parents used to bring me here when I was a child. I have very fond memories of this place, so I wanted to make more good memories by bringing the boy I like,Laila explained.

Cassian blushed. He wasn’t used to dealing with someone as direct as Laila. He said, I can’t reciprocate your feelings. I think you’re wasting your time.

Are you married?Laila asked.

No,Cassian replied.

Do you have a lover?Laila asked.

No,Cassian said.

Don’t you like women?Laila asked.

I like women,” Cassian replied.

Then don’t you think I’m pretty?Laila asked.

It’s not that. You are very pretty,” Cassian said.

Laila smiled, satisfied to hear him say she was pretty. She said, “Then I don’t see what the problem is.

I’m in love with another woman,Cassian confessed.

The person you bought the books for?Laila asked.

Yes,Cassian replied.

Have you told her?Laila asked.

No, I can never tell her because it’s impossible for us. She is a married woman,Cassian

explained.

Then it’s perfect for you to be with me. That way, you can forget about her, don’t you think?Laila suggested.
