Cassian let go of Abril’s hand, facing his brother’s stern look that seemed to ask when he would let go. He stayed a few steps behind as they headed into a house near the port.

Upon entering the house, Alessandro asked a servant who was arranging some flowers to bring fresh drinks for their guests. The servant looked at the king’s hand holding that of a beautiful redhead. He knew that red hair was rare and that only direct descendants of the Venobich family had it. He immediately deduced who the woman was: the king’s wife. He bowed his head, and for a moment, a faint smile appeared on his lips. Alessandro walked past, but Abril saw something sinister and terrifying in his smile.

She felt a chill run down her spine, as if she knew what was in his heart, and it was nothing good.

Alessandro led them to a small room. Cassian sat on a brown sofa, Alessandro sat on the one opposite him, and Abril remained standing, not quite sure what to do. Alessandro took her hand and said, “Sit down, you look tired.”

He kissed her again, deeper this time. Abril wrapped her arms around his neck and enjoyed his kisses. Alessandro hated the idea of having to leave, but he had to continue searching for the pirates. The coachman tightened the reins and said, “Hold on tight.”

The carriage swayed, and Abril clung tightly to her seat and asked, “What’s happening?”

He covered his mouth with his sleeve and said to Abril, “Don’t breathe, this smoke is not good.”

Abril held her breath for a moment, but then she felt hands grabbing her and started to scream, “Let go of me.”

Cassian couldn’t use his sword because the smoke blocked his vision, nor could he use his magic. He could no longer hold his breath and ended up inhaling the smoke. His vision blurred, and his body started to paralyze. He tried to grab Abril, but he couldn’t. The smoke dissipated, and Cassian watched helplessly as they took Abril and loaded her into the completely black carriage. Among the kidnappers, he saw a familiar face; it was the servant who had brought them the lemonade. After that, Cassian passed out, and Abril also fainted, not knowing what was happening or why she was being captured.

When Cassian woke up, he desperately searched for Abril with his eyes, but she was nowhere to be found. He exited the carriage and tried to go out to search for her, but his legs were still affected, and his head too, he could barely stand. He looked for the horses, untied one of them, and got on. As best as he could, he returned to the port and frantically searched for Alessandro. Alessandro was boarding a ship at that moment. Cassian shouted with all his might, “Alessandro!”

At that moment, he returned to the port and searched everywhere for him. However, he couldn’t find him, he seemed to have disappeared completely.

When Abril opened her eyes, she found herself in a strange place. It was a dirty cell with a wooden floor. Abril was tied hand and foot. She tried to free herself, but all she managed to do was hurt herself. Her wrists burned and began to bleed. Abril started to cry: she was scared and in pain. All she wished for was for Alessandro to come rescue her and take refuge in his arms.

Abril heard the footsteps of someone approaching, the wood creaking with each step. She became even more frightened. She was so scared that she started to tremble and, amidst murmurs, called out to Alessandro again and again, begging him to come save her.

A tall, terrifying–looking man with several scars across his face approached the cell. Abril screamed in terror and said, “Please don’t hurt me, I beg you.”

The man opened the cell. As he entered, he got a little closer. Abril tried to move away that terrifying man, but it was impossible. The man caressed her face and said, “Hello, beautiful, how are you?”

“I can’t. I won’t let you go. You are the wife of King Alessandro Veriatte. I’m sure I’ll get something good out of you.”

“His Majesty will come to rescue me.”
