Forgotten Wife My Ex-Husband Regrets It After I Left (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 231

Sienna’s POV

“Noaah!” Liam’s weary but comforting voice echoed through the living room.

Noah instantly got to his feet lifting both his arms, up high. “DADDY!!”

Liam didn’t even have time to loosen his tie before that small frame collided with his legs in the forceful hug Noah could manage. Liam smiled quietly reciprocating the hug and tousling Noah’s hair, which was still a bit wet, from his bath.

“You nearly caused Daddy to tumble like a giant did you realize that?” he joked.

“Noah was constructing a castle! Mommy is the Queen!.

Noah is the knight who defends Mommy!” he declared with pride.

“Oh?” Liam glanced at me a trace of something, in his gaze part relief, part intrigue. “A Queen you say?”

I acted as if I was adjusting my hair attempting to conceal a grin. “Indeed. A queen was awarded the praise by her little knight.”

Noah pulled on Liam’s hand. “Daddy needs to look!. Watch out! Don’t drop it!” He twitched his finger like he was cautioning a junior. We approached the block construction. Liam knelt, examining Noah’s work as if it were a luxury art piece.

“Wow,” he murmured. “This is more impressive than

Daddy’s office building.”

Noah grinned broadly. “Mommy’s castle must be extraordinary!”

My cheeks flushed more. For some reason each phrase Noah spoke today appeared to touch the tender part of me.

Liam shot me a smile. “In that case Daddy is happy to return to this castle.”

• Noah indicated the tower that was a bit tilted. “That’s Mommy’s room!” he said, pointing at a green block “is Noah’s room! This tall one here is Daddy’s room! So Daddy can watch over Mommy and Noah from above!”

Liam gave a smile. “Daddy really likes the design.”

A sense of warmth filled me while observing them.

Witnessing them in this way it was difficult not to sense that my life was molding itself into a complete form once more.

After showing off his castle Noah abruptly let out a large theatrical yawn that was impossible to conceal.

Liam grasped the instant away. “Seems our tiny warrior requires a break.””Noah isn’t sleepy,” he attempted to insist. An additional yawn gave him away halfway through his words.

I crossed my arms. “Could you tell me the time Mr.

Architect?”

Noah blinked, attempting to find the answer out of nowhere. “Is it night o’clock?”

We both started laughing loudly.

“Brush your teeth then it’s bedtime alright?” I murmured softly, rubbing his head tenderly.

Noah made a clicking sound with his tongue resembling a prince displeased with his agenda. Yet he rose anyway,

• shuffling his feet toward the bathroom.

“I’ll assist,” Liam stated, trailing behind him as he took off his tie.

I observed them from behind as they strolled together one the other short yet their strides matched flawlessly.

The view brought a warmth to the home that nothing else in this world could ever purchase.

A while later they came back. Noah was wearing his blue dinosaur pajamas. His hair looked tousled. His face was clean and his eyes were already partly shut.

He held me close before settling into his bed. An embrace that appeared to mean Stay here Mommy.

“You’ve got plenty to do right?”

Liam halted once. He shut his eyes for a moment. Then powered down his tablet as though indicating that I mattered more than those figures.

“Not much,” he replied quietly. “Because I took the morning off I need to make up some time.”

I agreed with a nod. That wasn’t the issue troubling me.

Another thought was swirling in my head stuck on my tongue unwitting to escape.

Liam examined my expression. “Sienna,” he said softly, “if you have a question just go ahead and ask.”

My heart sank. Naturally he noticed my discomfort.

I took a breath. “It concerns Emily.”

Liam paused momentarily. Not evading. Visibly taken aback.

“What precisely occurred to her?”

He moved nearer his gaze, with no hint of concealment.

Somehow that made my chest constrict more.

He calmly explained, “Emily suffers from acid reflux. She appeared unwell this morning.”

I bit my lip. One part of me wished to feel sympathy, Emily was still a person enduring suffering. Yet another part of me shivered, anxieties pressing against my chest.

I dropped my eyes. “Did it surprise you?”

Liam exhaled deeply before responding. “Anyone would be startled to see someone fall down on the street Sienna.”
