Sienna’s POV
I gave a nod even though that wasn’t the conclusion I was aiming for.
Liam inclined his head attempting to understand what my quietness meant. “Hey, feel free to be truthfut. I won’t get angry.”
gave a bitter chuckle. “I simply don’t want the events to repeat themselves.”
“Which section?” Liam inquired softly despite being aware.
“Five months back, when she returned.” My tone faltered.” When she confessed she was still in love with you. When everything between us became complicated because you were uncertain about what to do.”
Liam appeared, his eyes shutting momentarily in remorse.
“Sienna,” he moved nearer, clasping my hand. “At that time I was naïve. I didn’t understand how to confront my history.”
I ingested.
“But I’m no longer that man,” he went on. “Now I understand what I’m defending. What I won’t let slip away.”
I gazed at him.Liam held my eyes, calm and genuine.
“Emily belongs to the past. You are my future.”
Those words caused a shiver in my chest not due to their content but because of the firm conviction in his voice.
“Didn’t she request that you remain at the hospital today?
“My voice was barely audible.
Liam nodded gradually. “She did. Yet | declined. I instructed her manager to handle all matters. There was no purpose for me to remain.”
“No cause?” I murmured.
Liam leaned closer. Gently kissed my forehead. “There’s none. Because my home is here.”
A constriction within me gradually dissolved. I dropped my eyes, a smile creeping onto my lips despite the warmth pooling behind my eyes.
I inhaled deeply attempting to calm the tremor in my frame. “You somehow always say exactly what’s needed don’t you?” 1 released a trembling laugh.
“I’m not aiming to say the thing,” he responded. “‘m merely stating what is factual.”
I shut my eyes for a moment. Straightforward words, yet they silenced every uncertainty churning inside me. When I opened them more Liam continued to watch me as if he wouldn’t dare look away. His hand softly touched my cheek, his thumb moving near the tear starting to fall. “It hurts me to see you question your place in my life,” he murmured. “You must never feel as though you’re the option.”
I pressed my lips together. “Occasionally I struggle to manage my anxieties.”
“I understand.” He agreed. “I’ll be here to remind you whenever those worries come back.”
This time a gentle chuckle slipped out more authentic. ”
My dear husband.”
“Always,” he responded without hesitation.
Then he rose momentarily to adjust my blanket where it had fallen. Each of his actions was tender, considerate as if he understood how fragile I could become.
A grin appeared on his face as he saw me observing him. ”
Oh by the way ” he remarked casually “Noah mentioned there’s an art project tomorrow. He plans to create a dinosaur mask.”
He gave a nod as though comprehending every silent thought I held. “And I’ll wait calmly until you no longer need to learn,” he answered. “Until you’re fully confident.”I squeezed his hand firmly sensing his warmth. “At times! feel like I demand too much,” I whispered. “Seeking comfort. I want you near. Requesting”
“Sienna.” He halted me steady but gentle. “You’re not demanding much. You simply want to be cherished ”
I froze. His words pierced directly into my vulnerable spot.
“I may not be flawless all the time,” he said, his thumb stroking the back of my hand. “I vow I’ll always return to you. Whatever happens.”
lowered my eyes, a bittersweet grin appearing. “You have a way of making everything seem simpler.”
“Because we are confronting it as one,” he said promptly.”
You aren’t going through this by yourself.”
I raised my gaze, locking eyes with him. “If one day I feel afraid more will you still say all these things?”
He knit his brows a little. Moved nearer. “Each day.
Whenever you require it. I’ll keep saying it until the sensation of fear fades from your memory.”
A surge of warmth flooded my chest, overpowering.
“For as long as I exist,” he echoed firmly when I inquired, ” Including in that case?”
A tear rolled down though not out of fear or relief. I pressed my forehead against his shoulder allowing myself to find comfort in his embrace. He gripped me firmly, locking every vow within his hug.
His breath caressed my hair as he murmured
“You’re my place, Sienna. I’m staying right here.”
