Stephanie
Marking and mating with Will was everything that I’d hoped it would be. He was a patient, gentle, and amazing lover.
After we marked each other, we’d laid in each other’s arms and he told me about his pack, our pack now.
I told him I wasn’t sorry to be leaving my pack. Ever since my father mated to my stepmother, things hadn’t been the same. I even told him about Elena trying to seduce Alpha Benedict last weekend.
“So, be warned when you meet her,” I said, only partially teasing. I have no doubt that Elena will try to seduce Will. She’s always been jealous of me, and she wants nothing more than to be a Luna of her own pack. If she could take my mate and my position from me, I have no doubt that she would.
“Let me be very clear with you, Stephanie. I don’t know what kind of man your father is, or what kind of men live in your family’s pack, but where I come from, the mate bond is sacred. There will never be anyone else for me, but you. No one will share my heart, my bed, or my life, except you. I don’t see how it’s possible, since you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life, but even if your sister was somehow more beautiful than you, it wouldn’t be enough because she ISN’T you. You’re the one for me. You’re the one the Moon Goddess created just for me. So, there will never be any woman who could ever come between us. Ever. And for the record, if any man ever tries to come between us, I will end his life.” 2
I smiled at that. Will is absolutely the most perfect man possible for me.
“There could never be any other man for me but you, Will. I know we need to get to know each other better. Obviously, we don’t know each other well at all, but I agree with you. I trust the Moon Goddess. If she brought you to me, it’s because you are the perfect man for me.”
He’d growled, rolling over and sliding inside me again, showing me just how utterly perfect we are together.
This morning, we said goodbye to our friends. I promised to invite them to my Luna ceremony once I was settled in my new home. Then, we’d set out to my family’s pack. Will wanted to drive together, so he made arrangements for one of his warriors to come get my car from Alpha Roman’s pack.
“Are we staying the night, or are we making this a quick visit?” Will asks.
A part of me, a very large part of me, wants to make it a quick visit. But I don’t know when I’ll be returning again, and I know my father will want to get to know my mate before I leave with him.
“Let’s plan for one night. I’m not sure I can handle being around my stepmother and stepsister much longer than that, especially knowing Elena will most likely be throwing herself at you.”
“I doubt I’ll even notice,” he says, making me fall in love with him even more.
“Oh trust me, she’ll make sure you notice,” I grumble.
“You underestimate how much of my attention you have, my mate,” he says, grinning at me.
When we pull up to the gate at my father’s pack lands, my stomach tightens. I already don’t want to be here, but it must be done. Thankfully, I won’t have to return again if I don’t want to.
Will rolls down his window and I lean across him. “Hey, Christopher.”
“Alpha Stephanie, this is a surprise.”
“I met my mate at Alpha Sloane’s birthday party. This is Alpha Will. He’s from one of the southern packs,” I tell him.
“Congratulations! I know your father will be happy about that. Although, we’ll all be sad to see you go, Alpha. Or should I call you Luna now?” I look at Will.
“Whichever you prefer,” he says.
“It’s not official, but I am Will’s Luna now,” I say.
“My Luna and the queen of my heart,” he says, pressing a kiss to my neck and sending a shiver down my spine.
“Smooth, Alpha,” Christopher murmurs. “Should I let your father know you’re home, Luna?”
“Are my stepmother and stepsister at home?” I ask.
“Yes,” he says, not looking any happier about it than I am. Everyone loved my mother. My stepmother? Not so much.
“No, don’t announce me. I’ll surprise them,” I say, sitting back.
“Congratulations again, Luna.”
“Thank you,” I say before Will rolls up the window and begins making his way down the drive.
“Seems you’re not the only one who isn’t fond of your stepmother and stepsister,” he says.
“No, they’re both entitled as far as I’m concerned. She wasn’t a Luna in her first mate bond. She has no idea how to manage a pack and has never cared to learn. I do worry about the pack after I leave. I’ve pretty much been managing the pack for my father since my mother passed away,” I say, wondering what will happen to the pack members once I’m gone.
“The pack members could always join our pack, if they’re unhappy here,” he says.
“Hmmm, when we say goodbye, I’ll make sure to tell them to keep in touch, just in case.”
As we pull up to the packhouse, I realize the only thing that I’ll miss from this place besides the pack members, are the memories of my mother and the person my father was when she was alive.
“Are you okay, Steph?” Will asks softly as we come to a stop.
“Yeah. I’ll be glad to say goodbye to this place tomorrow,” I say, squeezing his hand before getting out of the car.
“Hello, Alpha.”
“Welcome home, Alpha.”
The warriors and omegas who are walking around the pack lands all greet me, looking at Will with curiosity. I take his hand and walk inside the packhouse, mind linking my father.
‘Dad, where are you?’
‘Sweetheart, you’re home. I wasn’t informed. I’m in my office.’
‘I told Christopher not to tell you. I have a surprise for you.’
I lead Will to my father’s office, thankful when we don’t run into either my stepmother or Elena. I knock on the door and when he tells me to come in, I walk in with Will.
