Forsaken by the Moon Goddess novel Chapter 83

Roman

I’m not sure I could be any prouder of my niece. She handled an attack on her pack within forty-eight hours of becoming their Alpha. Her mate was attacked and is unconscious in the pack hospital. Then she came to the pack who initiated the battle, intent on violence, but recognized that these people are mostly innocent or victims and has given them the option to not only survive, but to come live in her pack.

‘White wolf or not, Sloane has always been a true Alpha,’ Samara says with Ayla’s voice overlaying so I know that both of them are as proud of our niece as Pierce and I are.

I look around at the remaining pack members in Felix’s pack, for that’s whose pack this used to be.

“I know many of you are suffering from the loss of your mates. You need to remember who caused this war, who caused the death of your mates. It was not Alpha Sloane. She retaliated and she is suffering her own losses in her pack. It was your Alpha, Alpha Felix, who thought it was a good idea to go against my niece, someone he knew was allied with me and under my protection. You need to decide if you’re willing to live in the pack where your mates were killed. Not everyone can, and that’s okay. If you have a home pack, a family pack that you would prefer to go to, Alpha Sloane is giving you that option. You can also go rogue until you find another pack to join. I know many of you are suffering. I see your pack doctor coming around to provide treatment, but you will need to make a decision as to where you will go after today,” I say, making eye contact with as many pack members as possible.

“Alpha, might I have a word with you?” Beatrice asks, as if Ayla doesn’t have her pinned against the wall.

“No. And I would suggest that you shut your mouth, Beatrice. My mate doesn’t like you. You’ve never been anything other than hateful to my family. Your hate has put my niece’s life at risk and your own son at death’s door. So, I would suggest that you shut your mouth before my mate rips your throat out,” I say, barely sparing her a glance.

Ayla growls, pushing her aura out over Beatrice and making her wolf whimper as sweat breaks out over her forehead.

I look around. “Help the ones suffering from severed mate bonds,” I tell my warriors. “We need a van.”

“One is coming from Alpha Sloane’s pack, Alpha. Beta Daniel sent it after you left in case we needed it.” “Good.”

By the time we’re done making sure the pack is secure, the sun is high in the sky.

“Samara, let the warriors get Beatrice,” I say, walking over to my mate who still has Beatrice pinned against the wall. Her aura is so strong that all of these pack members are giving her a wide berth.

Ayla steps back, just enough that our warriors, who are not afraid of their Luna, can grab Beatrice.

“Throw her in our dungeon until Alpha Sloane decides her fate,” I say.

“Please, Alpha! I’m a Luna! Don’t do this to me!” she screams.

“I didn’t do this to you, Beatrice. You did it to yourself. If you give my warriors any trouble at all, I give them permission to use whatever force is necessary to control you,” I say, making sure she knows that I’m not treating her with kid gloves. If she tries to make a run for it, my warriors will take her down and it won’t be gentle.

“Let’s go, Samara. We need to go check on Sloane,” I say.

I leap and let Pierce pull the shift. I can feel Samara and Ayla’s anger still flowing through them. She’s furious that anyone thought they could attack Sloane but more so that they thought they could mark her against her will to take over her pack. By the time we return to Sloane’s pack, it’s early afternoon. The dead from Felix’s pack have been removed from the pack lands. Pyres have been erected for those who were part of the Sloane’s pack, so I know that she’ll be holding a funeral tonight. I’m thankful that there are only four pyres, but for a brand-new Alpha, or for any Alpha really, it’s four too many.

“Austin,” I say, seeing my friend. When he sees Samara, he grabs a shirt and tosses it at her as she shifts. “Where are Sloane and Scarlet?”

“Sloane went to Alpha Benedict’s pack. His father apparently left yesterday to go find his fated mate, the one he rejected for Beatrice. Without Alpha Benedict, his father, Alpha Bethany who is here, or a Beta, they are lacking leadership and Alpha Sloane wanted to make sure no one tried anything stupid while he’s unconscious.” 1

I nod. “Samara and I can take over that pack for a couple of days until we know what’s happening with Alpha Benedict. I’m assuming he’s still alive?”

“Yes, alive but still unconscious. Alpha Bethany is at his bedside. And I’ve contacted my Beta to come take over Alpha Benedict’s pack while he’s unconscious.”

“Good, thank you. How is Alpha Waylon?” I ask.

“Still unconscious. Still critical. Luna Judith is at his bedside.”

“Where is Alpha Felix?” I ask, knowing that Luna Abbie didn’t collapse while I was in her pack so he much still be alive.

“The cells. When Alpha Sloane returned, she ordered him to have a feeding tube put down his throat. She said he couldn’t die until his mate delivered their baby.”

I nod. “Did you talk to him?”

“No. I’ve been busy preparing for their funerals while Sloane and Scarlet are holding the packs together.”

I look around. “It looks like they’re doing a good job.”

“The pack has a lot more respect for them now. They know that if they’d been attacked six months ago, they’d all most likely be dead.”

“I’m going to check on Bethany and Judith,” Samara says.

“Elizabeth is already at the pack hospital, Luna. I’m sure she’d welcome your assistance,” Austin tells her.
