She replied to Johnny.

Johnny, already awake, immediately called her.

“How do you feel? Is your head hurting?”

Maggie rubbed her temples. “A little. Nothing I can’t handle.”

“That’s good.” He paused, then complained with a snort, “What the hell is Franklin doing? Even if he wasn’t around, Cole has plenty of people to take care of you. Why did he have to interfere? Do you know that because of his stunt, some people almost thought I made some shady deal

with him involving you?!”

Maggie hadn’t overthought the situation. She responded calmly, “I’m Isabella’s mother. He was probably worried something would happen to me. He’s just making sure I’m safe, for Isabella’s sake.”

Johnny agreed that this was likely the reason.

He let out a cold snort and chatted with Maggie for a bit longer before hanging up.

The team–building event lasted until Sunday afternoon.

Maggie didn’t see Franklin at all these two days.

But as the event ended and she walked out of the hotel, she ran into the Green and Brown families.
