Chapter 499
The Green and Brown families watched Maggie leave the hotel, then also drove away.
Julia hadn’t gone to Wilson Group’s hot spring retreat because she had urgent matters to handle, so she stayed in New York. By the time the family returned home, she happened to be there.
Just as Julia opened her mouth to speak, Tracy cut in excitedly.
“Julia, guess who we ran into at the hotel these past two days?”
Julia didn’t need to guess. She already knew the answer would be Maggie.
Sure enough, before she spoke, Tracy revealed everything.
Tracy sat down and recounted how Franklin had publicly carried Maggie in his arms and stayed in her room for a long time afterward. She ended with a pout:
“Even though I know Franklin doesn’t have real feelings for Maggie, seeing him treat her that well still made me uncomfortable.”
Sophia chimed in immediately. “Same here!”
No one else said anything, the whole family genuinely didn’t take Maggie seriously at all.
Which was why none of them noticed how, the moment Julia heard the story, her hand clenched hard around the cup she was holding.

Maggie paused.
She hadn’t expected this again.
Previously, when she told him her schedule might delay the divorce, she’d already been anxious that their paperwork might once again get derailed by work, just like the last two times.

Yet…

She lowered her eyes and after a long moment replied:
[Okay. Understood.]
News of Franklin’s sudden business trip reached the Brown and Green families almost immediately.
Tracy’s voice shot up.
“Franklin went on a business trip again? The cooling–off period ends tomorrow- they can go file the divorce the day after–and now this?!”
Sophia was equally shocked and annoyed.
“Right? He already failed to divorce that woman twice because of work. And now once again? Can’t brother–in–law adjust his schedule even a
little?!”
Lauren wasn’t happy either, but Franklin was already on the plane. What could she do?
