Levi’s phone rang.

He glanced at the caller ID, quickly greeted Julia and the others, then told Franklin not to wait for him before walking off to take the call.

Once Levi had moved away, Franklin finally spoke. “Here for dinner too?”

“Yeah.” Julia responded, “When did you get back?”

“Last night.”

“Still busy with work?”

The elevator arrived, and Franklin stepped in with Julia and the others. “Nope.”

At that moment, he got a message. Nodding at Julia, he replied to two texts before they reached the ground floor.

As they exited the elevator, Julia looked at him and asked, “Got time tonight?”

“I’ve got plans tonight.”

Julia smiled. “Next time, then.”

“Sure.”

Just as Franklin finished speaking, his phone rang again. He turned to Julia and said, “I’ve got to head back to the office.”

“Okay.”

Franklin waved goodbye to Janice and walked off.

Sophia, though impulsive, didn’t dare say a word when Franklin was around.

Watching him walk away, she felt a strange, uncomfortable tightness in her chest. She muttered, “Franklin… he’s so cold.”

This was the first time she’d seen Franklin treat Julia so indifferently.

Indifferent to the point where someone who didn’t know them might think they were just casual acquaintances.

Janice and the others were equally surprised by Franklin’s coldness. His attitude earlier was so distant it felt like he and Julia were done for good.

Janice lowered her eyes and quietly said, “Let’s head back.”

Maggie’s business trip had gone smoothly.

In just two days, she was back in New York.

As she stepped off the plane, she was chatting with a few engineers from the company when she suddenly received a call from Isabella.

She answered casually, “Isabella?”

She seemed a little taken aback by whatever Isabella said on the other end, then smiled and said, “Okay, mom understands. I’ll be there soon.”

Most of the employees at Cole knew that Maggie was married and had a child, but they had never seen her answer a call from her daughter.
