Chapter 540
Maggie paused for a moment, then smiled naturally. “But mom has a business trip tomorrow.”
“Huh?” Isabella’s face fell. “Another trip?”
“Yep.” Maggie patted her head. “It’s getting late. Why don’t you go back with your dad and get some rest? When I’m back from the trip, we’ll taik, okay?”
Isabella pouted. “Okay.”
At that moment, Franklin suddenly spoke up. “How long are you going for?”
Maggie figured he was probably asking out of concern for when they could go together to sort out their marriage certificate and finalize the divorce.
“It’ll probably be two or three days.”
Franklin nodded, his tone calm and warm. “Alright, safe travels.”
With that, he and Isabella got in the car and left.
As soon as Franklin and Isabella got home, Levi’s call came through. “I heard you’re back? Finally finished with everything?”
Franklin watched Isabella head upstairs before sitting down on the couch. “Not really.”
Levi: “…”
“So, no time for dinner tomorrow?”
Franklin: “Actually, I do have time tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Levi’s mood lightened a little.
But then, as if something crossed his mind, he asked, “So, are you and Maggie going to the Civil Center tomorrow to finish the divorce?”
Franklin: “Maggie’s busy tomorrow. She’s going on a business trip.”
Levi: “…”
‘Another trip? When are you two finally going to get the divorce settled? Honestly, it’s dragging on a bit. If I weren’t worried about the public opinion, I’d have old you to file for divorce already.”
Franklin, unbothered, casually flipped through a newspaper and suddenly changed the topic. “Where are we eating tomorrow?”
Levi figured Franklin didn’t want to discuss his divorce, so he dropped it. “Let me check with Harry and I’ll send you the address later.”
Franklin: “Sounds good.”
When Harry got Levi’s call, he hesitated for a moment before turning him down, using the excuse that he had something to do. Then, unable to resist, he asked about Franklin and Maggie. “So, did Franklin and Maggie actually plan to go to the Civil Center to finalize the divorce tomorrow?”
Levi, thinking Harry was just curious, answered casually. “Nope. I heard Franklin say Maggie’s going on a business trip tomorrow, so she won’t be able to make
t.”
Harry lowered his gaze.
“Mm.”
The next day at noon, when Levi arrived at the restaurant, he saw that Franklin was the only one in the private room. Unable to stop himself, he asked, “Julia
didn’t come?”
