Felix wore a gentle smile and spoke first. “Maggie’s here too? Long time no see.”

Maggie nodded. With Isabella present, she hesitated for a second before calling out, “Dad.”

Felix smiled and nodded back. “It’s crowded here. We’re blocking the way. Let’s go inside and talk.”

Maggie nodded. She was still hesitating when Isabella grabbed her hand and pulled her forward. “Mom, let’s go.”

Once they reached the private room and took their seats, Felix spoke again. “Maggie, I heard you’re doing really well at Cole now. Congratulations.”

“Thank you,” Maggie replied.

The moment she finished speaking, Franklin naturally took the seat next to her.

Maggie turned her head slightly and pretended not to notice.

Why Maggie had shown up today, and what her current situation with Franklin was, had actually made everyone in the Wilson family curious. Still, no one asked.

On top of that, there had been plenty of rumors in their circle about Maggie and Johnny. Since Felix knew she was working at Cole now, he had likely heard those rumors too.

He did not bring them up either.

Felix and Franklin did not keep in close contact usually, but they both had a general sense of each other’s work. Before long, they were talking about business, with Maria and Stella joining in as well.

Maggie had heard bits and pieces of what they were discussing, but she did not chime in.

Old Mrs. Wilson had long since stepped away from family affairs and could not be bothered to get involved. She cheerfully picked food for Maggie. “Have you been busy at work lately? Look at you, you’ve lost weight again.”

Then she asked, “Have you set your vacation time for this year?”

“Yes,” Maggie said. “But even after the break starts, I still have a few receptions to attend. It won’t really be restful.”

As Maggie spoke with Old Mrs. Wilson, she reached out to fork a piece of duck. Just then, York was not paying attention and turned the lazy Susan. When he noticed Maggie reaching for the dish, he quickly apologized and was about to turn it back, but Franklin beat him to it. He picked up the duck and placed it in Maggie’s bowl. “Want more?”

Everyone except Isabella looked over at once.

When Franklin picked up another piece, Maggie snapped out of it and said coolly, “That’s enough. No need. Thanks.”

Franklin said nothing and put the piece into his own bowl.
