Rex fell silent. His gaze moved past the crowd and landed on Franklin.

Franklin was deep in conversation, clearly in no rush to leave.

So… he really was not planning to attend the Wilson Tech banquet after all?

Rex noticed that Harry had not gone to the Wilson Tech banquet either.

When Wilson Tech needed support and visibility from him and Franklin, Harry, as a friend, should have shown up for Julia at the very least.

Harry really had been busy lately.

Just to see Maggie, he had postponed an important work arrangement and rushed over so he would not miss the Cole banquet.

What he had not expected was that Franklin would still be here this late.

Seeing Harry arrive, Franklin walked over. “You made it?”

Harry smiled and clinked his glass with Franklin’s. “Yeah.”

There were many guests tonight, and Johnny and Maggie were swamped. After exchanging a few words with Harry, Maggie said, “Mr. Becker, M. Wilson, Mr. Hardin, we still have other matters to attend to. Please excuse us if we have not been the best hosts.”

As Maggie walked away, Harry kept his eyes on her for a moment before finally looking back. He clinked glasses with Franklin again. “Are you heading out soon? If not, want to have a few drinks?”

“Sure,” Franklin replied.

Then Franklin turned to Rex with a smile. “Care to join us, Mr. Hardin?”

“Of course. My pleasure.”
