Chapter 601
Johnny looked up from the phone and pressed his lips together. “Eating dinner together doesn’t prove anything. Could’ve just bumped into each other and
decided to sit down.”
He wasn’t buying that Stella and Felix had caved that fast.
If Julia’s background had been clean, sure, maybe. But her mother’s rise had been anything but above board, and he couldn’t believe Stella and Felix didn’t care
about that.
Maggie said, “When I had lunch with Harry today, he brought it up too. Said they’d already given them their blessing.”
Johnny went quiet.
–
Honestly, if he were Stella and Felix even if he couldn’t stand Julia – after she’d put her life on the line to save his kid, he’d probably go soft too.
He let out a short grunt. “Well, if the Wilsons have come around, the divorce should go through without any more snags. What about your daughter though?
Have they told her yet?”
“Probably not. But that’s not really my problem.”

Isabella had genuinely wanted to come spend time with her. So when Maggie walked in that late, she went over and hugged her, a little deflated. “Mom, why are you so late? I’ve been waiting forever.”
Maggie reached up and ruffled her hair. “Sorry, things ran long at the office.”
“Fine,” Isabella muttered, but stayed tucked against her, and started telling her about all the funny things that had happened at school that day.
They hadn’t been talking for long when Johnny called, all fired up, saying he’d just pulled an interesting set of numbers and wanted to go over them with her.
Maggie’s interest was piqued immediately.
Convenient timing too, Isabella was heading off to take a shower,
Once Isabella disappeared into the bathroom, Maggie opened her laptop, and Johnny asked, “She didn’t come by today?”
“She’s here, she’s just in the shower.”
“So you’re tied up all weekend?”
“Not exactly. She’s leaving tomorrow morning.”
“Going to be with them?”
“Probably. She said they’re all going somewhere.”
“Ha. Chatting you up just long enough to squeeze in one evening, then off to have fun with them?” He paused, then added, “But honestly, with everything
