Chapter 634: Can I Post This Online?

Monday morning, Maggie wrapped up a company meeting and walked out to her phone buzzing.

It was Johnny calling.

She’d barely picked up before he launched right in, voice practically bursting with excitement: Maggie, the winners for this year’s U.S. Domestic

Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award are out, and you made the list! Congratulations!

Maggie blinked, then smiled. Nice. Let me pull up the official site and take a look.

Word of Maggie’s win spread fast around the office. She hadn’t even had a chance to check the site herself before Glen and the others were already rolling over to congratulate her.

Julia and her crew heard the news just as quickly.

Most of the Browns and the Greens had no idea what the award actually meant at first, not until they saw the comment sections blowing up with people raving about how prestigious it was. That’s when it started to sting a little.

On top of that, while people were buzzing about Maggie’s domestic win, plenty of commenters were already speculating that she’d probably take home the International Outstanding Young Scholar Paper Award too.

That one was a big deal. In recent years, almost no one from the States had managed to win it.

And Maggie was barely in her twenties.

That young, with a résumé like that, her ceiling was nowhere in sight.

The online reaction was one of collective pride, everyone eagerly waiting for the World AI Conference organizing committee to make its

announcement.

Sure enough, two days later, the committee dropped the official winner list, and Maggie’s name was on it.

Just like that, she was trending.

Maggie had been slammed with work the whole time. She found out about everything through other people; the internet was the last place she was looking. Not long after the official announcement, though, she got a formal invitation from the organizers for the awards ceremony.

And that was just the beginning, interview requests started pouring in from all directions. For the next few days, Maggie barely had a moment to breathe.

Saturday came, and Nolan had the day off.

His reaction to Maggie’s win was pretty lowkey, all things considered.

Honestly? He’d seen it coming.

Nolan didn’t get to hang out with Reed and Quaid all that often. But this particular Saturday, everyone happened to be free, so the four of them

Nolan, Maggie, Reed, and Quaid made plans to go grab a meal.

When they saw Maggie, Reed and Quaid both grinned. We heard about the awards. Congrats.

Thanks,Maggie said.

After dinner, they wandered over to a nearby cafe to keep the conversation going over coffee.

They’d barely settled in when someone recognized them. A server couldn’t help himself and approached their table. Mr. Nolan, would it be okay if I got a photo with you all?

Maggie and Nolan agreed without hesitation.

The server was practically vibrating. Getting this many heavy hitters in one shot was unreal. He worked up the nerve to ask: Can I post it

online?

Maggie and Johnny didn’t care either way.
