From Betrayed Luna to Wolf Queen (Lillian) novel Chapter 101

Several times, Lillian was sure they were going to diethat any second now, they’d plow through the railing and plunge into the river below.

He’d lost it. Completely lost it.

Driven mad by the simple fact that she wanted to sever what they were.

Lillian snapped, Stop the car!

Only now did she realize she’d been played. The courthouse? The dissolution? It was all just bait.

Julian shouted, You wanna end things with me and run straight to Finn? Keep dreaming. You hear me? Keep. Dreaming.

He was screaming now, voice ragged, completely unhinged.

Lillian was so tired of hearing Finn’s name she could scream.

There’s nothing between me and Finn. Nothing.”

Yeah? Then what the hell was last night about? What did you say to me on that phone?

Lillian went quiet.

You wanna burn things down so bad? Fine. What’s next? Tell me. I’ll light the match myself.

In his mind, everything she’d done the past few days pointed to one goal: ending them.

Graves Estate. Go ahead. Burn it.

You wanted to help me raise hell, right? You couldn’t finish off Iris and Margaret, so go for the estate instead.

She wasn’t joking when she said it.

Graves Estate. The one place in this world she truly hated.

Julian’s breath came out in ragged bursts. Fine. I’ll burn it. I’ll burn the whole goddamn thing down for you, alright?

Lillian said, Then go. Right now. Do it.

Julian was furious now. He’d always hated anyone trying to outtough him.

But Lillian? She’d spent the last two days daring him to blink first. And in this city, Julian didn’t blink.

He actually dragged her back to Graves Estate.

The staff watched in stunned silence as Julian pulled a gas can from the storage shed and started dousing the walls.

The head of household, panicking, tried to organize people to stop him while someone else ran to get Eleanor.

By the time Eleanor stormed back, she found the staff physically holding Julian back as he tried to strike a matchand Lillian leaning against a car nearby, arms crossed, watching like a

spectator at a show.

Eleanor’s vision blurred with rage. She marched straight up to Julian and slapped him across the face.

Have you lost your goddamn mind?

The sound cut through everything. Silence.

They stared at each other from across the lawn.

Lillian watched Julian with the faintest trace of a smirk.

Then Eleanor turned on her. You little menace. You burned down Inkwood Gardens yesterday, and now you want to torch Graves Estate?

What did the Graves Pack ever do to you? You want us all dead that badly?

Lillian retorted, What do you mean, what did you do? Your son’s the one holding the match!

Everyone stood there in silence.

That answer only made Eleanor angrier.

She stormed up to Lillian, hand raised, ready to strike.
