She hit the words her own person hard.
The meaning was unmistakable: with Julian, Lillian didn’t have basic rights. He’d never treated her like an independent individual. Their relationship had never been equal.
If Julian had ever seen her as an equal, he never would have considered leaving her in there to force her hand.
Julian’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles went white.
He opened his mouth to respond-
The line went dead.
Thomas caught up to him in the parking garage.
Julian was already in the car, his profile sharp and unreadable in the dim light. Thomas approached carefully. “Alpha.”
Julian didn’t look at him. “How did she find out what I said to you?”
She. Lillian.

Chapter 120 Mother and Son
Eleanor stared at him, disbelief written all over her face. “After all of this, you’re still not going to end it?”
“None of this started because of us.”
His voice was ice now. When he looked at her, there was no warmth in his eyes–just flat, unblinking judgment.
“You all know exactly why things are the way they are.”
Eleanor’s jaw tightened. “So you’re blaming me?”

‘I’m mated. I have my own family now.” Julian’s tone didn’t shift, didn’t waver. “If you really don’t know what to do with yourself, 30 shopping. Go play cards at the casino with your friends. Do literally anything else.”
The words landed like a physical blow.
Eleanor’s face went pale, then flushed red. “You’re saying I’m meddling?”
‘Aren’t you?”
“Your”
Was this really her son? He was going to give her a heart attack.
she shot to her feet, shaking with anger. “You’re impossible.”
That woman Lillian must have hexed him. There was no other explanation.
Eleanor stormed out of the room without looking back. If she stayed another second, she’d lose her mind completely.
Julian waited until the door clicked shut behind her, then closed his eyes and leaned back against the pillows. “Tell them not to ouch her.”
He didn’t need to say who her was.
He wasn’t ready to pull Lillian out yet. But he also wasn’t going to let anyone hurt her.
He just wanted her to understand something: in Gilneas City, he was the only one who could protect her. No one else had that power. No one else could lay a hand on her and get away with it.
Thomas nodded once. “I’ll handle it.”
Eleanor didn’t go back to Iris‘ room. She went straight to the parking lot and climbed into the car, slamming the door behind her.
The moment Hilda got in on the other side, Eleanor turned to her, her voice sharp with fury, “Call them. Tell them not to go easy on that bitch.”
Hilda nodded. “Okay.”
“I want her dead.” Eleanor’s hands were shaking in her lap. Right now, all she wanted was for Lillian to rot in there. To feel real pain
for once.
Hilda hesitated. “That might be hard. Julian said-”

“Then leave her half–dead,” Eleanor cut in, her voice rising. “Can you manage that?”
She didn’t let Hilda finish her sentence. She talked right over her, the words tumbling out in a rush of anger.

The thought of Julian still protecting Lillian made her blood boil. After everything that woman had done–after she’d tried to kill him–and he was still shielding her? Still acting like she was made of something precious?
Hilda dipped her head, a small smile playing at the corner of her mouth. “Already handled.”
Leaving her half–dead was completely doable.
From the moment they’d taken Lillian away from Laurel Manor, Hilda had made sure things were arranged.
Getting her inside hadn’t been easy, and with Julian in no rush to pull her out, this was the perfect window. Why wouldn’t they make sure she suffered?
Eleanor stared out the window, her jaw tight. “She tried to poison him, and he still acts like she’s made of gold.”
The thought ate at her.
What mother could stand by while another woman hurt her son?
Lillian had come into the pack with nothing.
For years, she’d lived off pack resources, taken everything for granted. Eaten their food, slept in their house, spent their money.
And this was how she repaid them? By turning into a monster?
Hilda leaned back in her seat, her voice smooth and reassuring. “Don’t worry. She’s probably already a mess in there.”
Eleanor nodded slowly, some of the tension leaving her shoulders. “Good. Once she’s been through enough, she’ll realize how good she had it with us. She’ll understand that life in the pack was heaven compared to where she is now.”
“She will,” Hilda said. “Everything’s set. You don’t need to worry about a thing.”
And she meant it.
Even without the poisoning, there was another reason Hilda wanted Lillian to suffer.
Finn.
Someone needed to teach Lillian her place. She needed to understand, once and for all, that in Gilneas City, next to the pack, she was nothing but an ant. Something to be crushed underfoot without a second thought.
