Edmund Langley–the man who could single–handedly turn the entire world upside down.
Over the past five years, that name had echoed across every continent on the planet.
And her father was Zachary Langley, a high–ranking noble in the Wolf King’s royal court of
the Western Continent
Julian had already managed to piss off the Langley Pack. The mating bond between Lillian and Julian was doomed,
Julian gritted his teeth. “Then let me make this clear to you right now–I’m not breaking the bond with her. You can drop that idea.”
“She fed you an entire bowl of poisoned oatmeal yesterday. Shouldn’t you be the one letting
Julian went rigid,
Bringing up that bowl of poisoned oatmeal only made his blood boil.
“That’s between me and her. Even if we go down we go down together. You
got that?”
Hearing “go down together“, Finn let out a cold chuckle on the other end. “I wouldn’t recommend that.”
He knew Julian was unhinged.
So Finn figured he’d give him a warning. “If you drag her down with you, every single member of the Graves Pack will pay a heavy price for what you do.”
Julian’s jaw tightened.
“I’ll have your ancestors dug up. They won’t rest in peace because of you.”
“Finn!” Julian roared.
Who could stomach that kind of insult to their bloodline?
“You threatening me?”

Finn’s voice stayed calm. “Break the bond with her. It’ll save you a whole lot of trouble. Understand?”
Julian didn’t get a chance to respond. Finn hung up on him.
Furious, Julian kicked over a potted plant by the door.
Then he shot George a dark, venomous look.
“Looks like you can’t even be a decent lapdog. There’s no future for her and your boss.”
Being called a “lapdog” again made a dangerous glint flash in George’s eyes.
Without waiting for Julian’s say–so, George raised a hand and gave the order. “Go inside and bring the lady out.”
Julian stared.
They were really going to try taking her right in front of him?
After all these years in Gilneas City, Julian was witnessing something new.
Someone actually had the nerve to start trouble on his own turf.
Julian’s eyelids lifted slightly. “Everyone, come out.”
At his command, bodyguards hidden in the shadows emerged all at once.
From the look of it, they matched George’s numbers exactly.
The tension between both sides was about to explode again.
Just then, Lillian walked out of the house. “George.”
George’s hand had already moved toward his waist, but at the sound of Lillian’s voice, he stopped.
Lillian looked at him. “Go back. For now.”
“Miss.”
George’s expression turned serious as he shot Julian another dangerous glance.
Lillian’s voice stayed soft but carried an unmistakable authority. “Go.”
George finally nodded.

“Call me if you need anything.”
Lillian nodded back.

With a wave of his hand, George signaled his men. The bodyguards, who’d already drawn their weapons, holstered them and climbed into the vehicles.
Nearly twenty cars rolled out in a long, imposing convoy.
Watching the display, Julian pulled Lillian into his arms. “Finn’s willing to go this far for you now?”
Lillian broke free from Julian’s grip, turned, and slapped him across the face.
Julian’s expression flickered.
Another one?
Lillian locked eyes with him. “Remember this–don’t ever call George a dog again.”
He, Julian, couldn’t afford the consequences.
In Gilneas City, Julian might be someone to fear, but George had the blood of plenty of powerful men on his hands.
All those years serving beside Edmund…
How did the Langley Group–controlling half the world and the entire Western Continent’s Langley Pack–get built?
George had fought on the front lines for every inch of it.
Julian’s gaze went cold. “You’re defending him?”
This time, Julian was even more furious.
Before, whenever Finn came up, she’d get worked up–fine. But now she was slapping him over someone connected to Finn?
Lillian shook her head. “No, I’m telling you to watch your back.”
“Watch my
my back? Ha. Does he even have the guts to come for me?”
Plenty of people in this world wanted Julian dead. Few actually had the nerve to try.
“If you’re defending him, just say so. Don’t hide behind some act like you actually care about me or my well–being.”
