Eleanor’s tone was sharp with malice, every word laced with contempt. “If we want her to truly hurt while she’s locked away, then we’ll make certain of it. You don’t need to fret–Hilda has already handled everything,”
Iris concealed her sense of triumph expertly, not a single hint of it showing on her face.
Outwardly, she maintained her innocent, harmless facade, her voice soft and hesitant. “Honestly, it’s really not that big of a-”
“Don’t you dare speak up for her ever again.”
Eleanor snapped at her, cutting Iris off mid–sentence without hesitation.
Even with the Hayes Pack’s power and standing starting to waver and fray at the edges, Eleanor still believed it was in her best interest to keep Iris on her good side.
For all that Iris had been brought up by someone as sharp–tongued and calculating as Margaret, she was still reasonably gentle. Docile enough to control, at the very least.
As long as she finally gave up chasing after Julian, Eleanor was prepared to keep treating her with basic civility.
Iris dropped her gaze to the floor, her voice small and troubled. “I’m only worried about Ethan…”
The second Ethan’s name left her lips, Eleanor’s expression turned stormy and cold.
She roughly tugged her hand free from Iris‘ hold, her voice sharp and unyielding. “Iris, you need to come back to reality where Ethan is concerned.”
Iris stared at her now–empty hand for a moment before lifting her eyes to meet Eleanor’s icy
gaze,

Eleanor’s features hardened into a stern, unforgiving scowl. “Even if Julian and Lillian are truly finished for good this time, with the way everyone in Gilneas City talks about Julian now, the two of you will never be allowed to be a proper mated pair.”
Once upon a time, Eleanor had been willing to let Iris be with Julian.
For one thing, Margaret’s family held significant sway and extensive business connections overseas, assets that couldn’t be easily dismissed.

Because if it was, then what happened between him and Lillian…
Julian sucked in a breath.
Let’s drop it. It’s done.”

Lillian let out a scoff. “Oh, come on. Something this big and you don’t even want to figure out who’s responsible? You don’t want to know why Id go out of my way to set up a doctor?”
“Just let it go.” He wanted to move on. Just like that.
Julian looked at her, “What else do you want from this?”
“To investigate properly. Find out exactly why I did it.”
Meeting the cold amusement in her eyes, Julian lost whatever appetite he had left.
He slammed his spoon down onto the plate, shoved back from the table, and headed upstairs without looking back.
He really didn’t want to fight with her right now.
Graves Group was already a nightmare.
If he kept going at it with her, he’d probably be dead from rage by morning.
Julian disappeared upstairs.
Helen stepped closer. “Luna, the Alpha cares about you. Acting like this, aren’t you just pushing him straight to Iris?”
In Helen’s mind, Iris had always held more weight with Julian. He’d spent so much time at the estate.
Now that he was finally here, spending more time with Lillian, she should be making the most of it.
Lillian’s POV:
I kept my voice flat. “Don’t worry. Even if our bond gets dissolved, he and Iris aren’t happening”
My rule was simple: if I couldn’t have him, no one else would either.
Julian and I were finished, but Iris–the one who’d spent all that time scheming against me because of him–could forget about ending up with him.

“Finn humiliated you like that because of Lillian so we don’t need to show any mercy toward
her either.”
Eleanor’s voice turned vicious.
She was also trying to comfort Hilda with this.
But Hilda was about to lose it from sheer frustration. “She needs our mercy? She’s got plenty of people protecting her now.”
Julian. And Finn.
There was no way they could even make a move.
Hearing this, Eleanor frowned. “What do you mean by that?”
“I mean she never even went in yesterday. Finn picked her up halfway.” Hilda’s voice shook with anger, tears brimming in her eyes.
Both Iris and Eleanor froze.
The hospital room went silent.
Iris‘ face shifted instantly, and Eleanor’s wasn’t much better.
Eleanor asked in disbelief, “What… what did you say? She never went in yesterday?”
Hilda gritted her teeth. “That’s right. She never went in. Finn picked her up halfway.”
Eleanor and Iris exchanged looks.
Hilda continued, her voice cracking. “And Finn picked her up personally. He went himself. Who is Lillian to him? How can he be negotiating a marriage arrangement with me on one e negotiating a marriage arrangement with me on one hand and protecting Lillian like this on the other?”
Hilda had completely lost it.
It was infuriating enough that Julian kept protecting that nobody Omega from who–knows- where.
And now this.
Finn had joined in too.
