Third–Person POV:
The young heir meant Iris‘ pup.
As soon as they heard it was about the pup, Iris‘ tears started flowing again.
Eleanor felt dizzy too, like she might pass out.
The Graves Pack was really going through it right now.
One thing after another kept piling up, and somehow it all came back to Lillian.
Iris and Eleanor quickly followed Christopher.
Hilda trailed along behind them.
At the dinner table, Julian looked exhausted, distracted. Whatever was going on at Graves Group, it was clearly serious.
Lillian pretended not to notice and kept eating.
Dinner that night had been prepared with extra care.
Probably because of all the issues with her food lately, Julian had even stationed guards in the kitchen. Anyone who tried tampering with Lillian’s meal would be dealt with on the spot.
Under those circumstances, no one dared mess with her food anymore.
Not even for the biggest payoff.
Julian ladled out a bowl of soup and set it in front of Lillian. “Drink this.”
More blood–replenishing soup.
Lillian didn’t touch it.
Julian looked at her. “Your cycle almost done?”
Hearing that, Lillian paused, spoon in hand, and glanced up at him.
The word “cycle” felt particularly loaded between them right now.

“So even now, you still don’t believe I was actually-
“Lillian.”
She didn’t get to finish. Julian cut her off, his gaze softening slightly.
He reached out and placed his warm palm over her hand. “Take care of yourself. You’ll have pups. There’s no rush.”
No rush.
So he really didn’t believe she’d been pregnant this time.
Iris and Margaret had done their job well. Seamless. Julian bought it completely.
Julian pulled his hand back. “How could there be a pup between us anyway?”
His eyes darkened.
Julian continued. “We lost two already. Unless I’d lost my mind, I wouldn’t even think about having pups with you again.”
Lillian’s voice dripped with sarcasm. “What pups? Maybe the Graves Pack should just let the bloodline die out. What’s the point anyway.”
Hearing that bitter tone, Julian took a deep breath.
“You’re-
“Good thing I’m not pregnant,” Lillian cut him off. “Better this way.”
If she could choose, she’d rather this pregnancy had never happened. She didn’t want Julian’s
pup.
Right now, the thought repulsed her.
Julian said, “I know there’s been tension between you and Iris. You won’t have to deal with her going forward.”
He’d already made up his mind.
Since the Graves Pack had made Lillian so miserable, they’d just keep their distance.
“From now on, it’s just you and me. No one else
If they couldn’t get along with the rest, then they wouldn’t.

Chapter 142 Scandal
Lillian let out a laugh. “Just you and me in my world…”
The phrase “my world‘ sounded absurd to her.

Never mind that she’d found her brother. Even before that, her world had never revolved solely around Julian.
The TV played the evening news.
Suddenly, a report caught their attention. “This station has learned that Dr. Dorothy Black, an OB–GYN at St. Aurora General Hospital, is under investigation and facing lawsuits for accepting bribes, performing illegal abortions, and falsifying medical records over an extended period.”
Hearing that the OB–GYN at St. Aurora General Hospital was being investigated, both Lillian and Julian turned to look at the screen.
A familiar face appeared.
The anchor continued. “If the allegations are confirmed, Dr. Black will have her medical license revoked and face legal consequences.”
Lillian looked away.
She turned to Julian, a slight smile at the corner of her eye. Her silent mockery hit him like a blade.
Julian’s expression had gone completely dark.
When he didn’t speak, Lillian broke the silence. “Guess the whole ‘misunderstanding‘ thing between me and Iris needs a second look.”
Just minutes ago, Julian had called it a misunderstanding.
Now the bribed doctor was all over the news.
