Chapter 152 A Slap
Third–Person POV:

Julian took her hand. “I know you want a family. I’ve already hired the best specialists to help you recover. Once you’re healthy again, we can have as many pups as you’d like.”
While he was in the shower earlier, he’d done a lot of thinking.
Victor had a point. A family… he needed to give her that.
Maybe the only thing that could truly fix what was broken between them now was a pup.
Lillian’s eyes narrowed. She jerked her hand free and slapped him hard across the face.
Julian went completely still.
Before he could even react, she struck him again on the other cheek.
Pups.
There might have been a time, once, when Lillian actually looked forward to building a family with him.
But now, hearing Julian bring it up just turned her stomach.
Lillian grabbed the disinfectant wipe the staff had left after clearing the dinner tray and began scrubbing the palm that had struck him.
Every movement radiated pure disgust.
Julian watched her, taking in all that unmistakable revulsion. His eyes narrowed. “You really hate me that much?”
She tossed the used wipe onto the nightstand.
By then, Lillian could barely look at him. Her voice turned icy. “Since you refuse to sign the mating bond dissolution agreement, I’ve instructed my lawyer to file in court.”
Julian’s heart dropped.
Lillian continued, relentless, “I am ending this bond with you. And don’t you ever disgust me again with that talk about pups.”

I shot a look at Lillian in the bed and gritted my teeth into the receiver. “Put the word out Any lawyer in Gilneas City who takes Lillian’s dissolution case will be disbarred before
sunset.”
“Understood.”
I ended the call and tossed the phone onto the bed beside her.
Then I leaned over her, planting my hands on either side of her shoulders. “Hear that? No one in this city will touch your case.”
“What, you planning to represent yourself?”
Lillian’s POV:
Looking at Julian then, he felt like a complete stranger.
Back when we used to attend society events together, I’d seen all kinds of high–profile mated pairs.
Some of them were tired of the glamorous life but couldn’t leave.
Because once you were in that world–especially as a female–getting in was easy, but getting out was hell.
Powerful packs cared about their reputation.
A lot of those males would rather hold onto the bond forever than actually try to make their mates happy.
And with their influence and pressure tactics, most females had no real way to fight back.
I just never thought Julian would sink to using those same dirty tricks on me.
Julian lowered his voice, almost coaxing. “Let’s just forget everything that happened before. Stay by my side. Okay?”
That last “okay” came out soft. Almost tender.
